Did the new signings make that much diference?

Saturday was always going to be a bit of a slog against a team desperate for points. Not exactly the easiest of circumstances for any new players to come in and make an impression.

Charlie Taylor looks like a youngster with potential. Contrary to what some others have said, I thought the other new boys did OK given the circumstances.

Allman will be a decent signing imo, and be a genuine 'progression'.Was caught out of position a couple of times, but think he is a 'proper' full back

Reminded me a bit of Paul Lamb.

I think Taylor could be a decent player, but lacking a bit in aggression and not too certain if he is better than Remy or Yiga.

Baxter-we will wait and see i guess .

We never know if they are on non contract forms and can thus never reappear again, or whether they are proper contracted signings.

I agree about Allman. The trouble is, we only play 3 'proper' full backs and he didn't look likely to trouble Donovan/Edwards/Kola who were all top class on Saturday. If he is going to be forced into the wing-back role we will have to see what he can do on the wing and how fast he can get back.

Taylor looked a bit of a Rocky with his matchstick legs and inability to head the ball. He did beat a couple of players, made a good cross and helped with the goal. I didn't think he could hold up play while help arrived, which seemed to be what he was meant to do. CK shook his hand when he was taken off as if to say 'thanks for helping us out mate'. I'll be surprised if he is permanent. We won't solve the lack of goals by trying out different strikers; we need somebody creative to play behind the front men like Brayley did.

For Baxter read Maxwell or Burke. He didn't impress me. The best little guy in midfield this season was Sacha with his free kick ability.

I think its good to have someone on the left side of defence with a bit of pace-not as quick as green but seemed ok.We do leak goals from being attacked down the flanks, and to my mind he was a defender first and foremost and not someone who thought he was a wingback.I'm convinced that at this level ,players do not have the ability to be wingbacks-they make a poor job of both defending and attacking- and i have alot of time for those who keep it simple and stick to their defensive duties and do that role simply and effectively.

I'm sure if Baxter manages to stay on his two feet in the next game he will do alot better.

First games are always difficult-lets just say there is room for improvement.

For someone with a low centre of gravity, he sure did spend alot of time falling over.

Maybe different studs will do the trick, and in fairness it was a bit of a gluepot pitch.

Each of the new signings had a decent game as did the rest of the team. They have all got a good pedigree. Considering it was their first outing was a good beginning. For Baxter it was his first game in our non league football.

I am sure our wonderful surface at Hartsdown will help them play even better tonight.

Lets get behind them.
