SACFC 2 - 2 FTFC

Very tactical sort of game, both teams will feel they could have done better I reckon.

Defence did well, can't fault them for either well-taken goal and I can't rememeber Bastock making too many saves either. The passing going forward let us down (imo) and the front three never really gelled but I'm not disappointed with the draw; we're still top and we can play better than that.

Err....

Their first goal came when Gibbs was allowed about 10 minutes to tee up and pick his spot for a ball into the area from about 40 odd yards out. Our back four, probably the biggest back four that we have fielded for a season or three, then watched, presumably in admiration as Morrison timed a run starting from somewhere near Loretto school to meet the ball with a header which gave Paul Bastock no chance.

Their second, on 88 minutes, came from a corner when our back four [see size description above] decided to allow Gasson a free-header from two yards out in the centre of the goal.

You may not fault the defence, Rob, but Bastock could be forgiven for blaming the loss of his two and sixpence clean-sheet bonus on something other than bad luck. I suspect that he may ask the back four for a contribution of sevenpence halfpenny each!

Farnborough are a very good side, who play clever stylish football at pace and we caught 'em cold but couldn't finish 'em off in the first 30 minutes. I felt that, overall, both sides deserved a point but not three. It was disappointing for me - a strangely 'unsatisfying' game - particularly as it was in front of our biggest League attendance of the season and as it will be a while before the next home game.

Hmm....

I wouldn't fault our defence for their first goal. Maybe one of our midfielders should have tracked back with the scorer who looked a bit surprised when the ball glanced off his head and screamed past Bastock.

Second goal, yes, someone should have cut that out, but that was the only mistake I saw; Farnborough only had two attempts on goal all game.
