Marks out of 10 at Windsor

As usual just one spectator's opinion. Difficult to judge players' performances against a side as useless as today's opposition but there were some definite plus points.

We played the usual 3-3-2 plus a couple of so-called wing-backs, Sesay right and Allman left. Both these were found wanting in defence, but our three fullbacks all looked excellent today.

In midfield we badly missed Keister and Deen, and because we played deep there was a big gap behind the front men.

We didn't look troubled until they brought on their best player (no. 15 - didn't get his name) and threw people forwards against our 10 men. The final whistle was a relief when it eventually came several minutes late.

Discipline let us down again. Some of the cards were just clumsy tackles by players out of position (eg Sesay at the back), but reds for head-butts two weeks running is ridiculous. Just as well we have all these new players to call on.

Windsor is a nice old-fashioned ground with a short bumpy pitch.

Mitten - 6: pretty sound. Panicky moment outside the area. A good tip over from the free kick near the end.

Donovan - 9: gets better with every game. Cool under pressure; just what we need against the likes of Staines/Hampton.

Edwards - 8: good solid defending. One or two clearances went to the opposition.

Kola - 8: also nice and solid. These three players were superb today.

Sesay - 6: always looks good on the ball and did well in the lead-up to the goal. Beaten too easily in defence and prone to make very clumsy tackles. Lucky the ref turned a blind eye to the second one.

Allman - 5: looks a willing lad. Didn't show much going forwards and got caught out a few times in defence. Had to be rescued by Standen more than once.

Standen - 8: played a good captain's game. Reads the situation well and plays intelligent forward passes with either foot. Now we have a good defence he could go forward more than he does. Corner taking not good today.

Baxter - 4: another little ball-playing midfielder from the Sacha/Burke/Maxwell factory. Only Sacha impressed. This guy can keep possession but doesn't look up, goes round in circles and eventually falls over. Perhaps he will improve.

McGowan - 6: started brightly but seemed to run out of steam.

Amoako - 7: works tirelessly and took his goal well. Perhaps should have got another when through on the keeper. He is a bit short for a front man in a long-ball game like the one today and you wonder if he shouldn't play 5 yards deeper.

Taylor - 6: reminds me of Baptiste but without the vision. Spindly legs, can't jump or head the ball. Beat some defenders at times and crossed well from near the left corner flag.

Keister - 8: didn't play but coached tirelessly from the touchline.

Ref - 8: quite good control at the end when it got a bit niggly. Lectures were too long. Needs a new watch.

Temperature - minus 5: or so it seemed!

That was marks out of 10 not total numbers!

We had a 95 this season which would be the lowest in recent years, however Jeff's history site (link) shows lowest gates of 29 at home and 22 away back in the 80s. Must have been fun.

Yer ino lol! I was just wondering though as the attendance was around 150 was it not?

Earlier this season we played at Banstead on a tuesday night . We took 40 , there where 3from Nuneaten , 3 from AFCW and someone on here (a MFC) fan said they attended . The attendance was 65! IMO they are the worst supported team in the Rymans League , another question that popped up is how do teams like W&E stay out of financial trouble with crowds that low?

[color:"blue"] Can only be from the wallets of the Chairman/Directors, as the only other source of income (ground/programme advertising) can't produce much of an income. Advertisers are looking for an audience to publicise their wares, and to advertise to under a 100 people(half of which are from out of the area) is not an attractive proposition.

They have got a few sponsors, judging by the programme. There's loads of money in that area, so they will probably charge more.

The programme is only £1.50 and no prize draw or anything, so they are obviously not too bothered about squeezing the last drop out of match days.

Oh it was, believe me,........ I remember seasons where 200 + was a good crowd. And yes we did still try to sing, and of course there was the green tea hut, Radio Hartsdown, Jim Cullen, Dave Cooper, and no JJ !!!!

Better stop before I go all misty eyed and spend the next three hours reading Jeff's site and wallowing in nostalgia..... !!

A bit late in day, but thought Chris got his marks almost spot on .

The 3 central defenders were excelent and Donovan was especially excelent.

A bit harsh on Alman-caught out of postion twice, but he did at least tryand play a genuine full backs role, as opposed to prentending he is another Ashley Cole.Got a feeling he may improve and do ok for us in that role.

He played like a defender and kept it simple-did not go forward too much which i see as a positive -let defenders defend

Unfortunately, i think the summing up of Baxter was too accurate aswell
