Absolutly shocking performance....

Apart from Sutton away two years ago, that was perhaps the worst peformance I have seen by Hornchurch.

 

Let's start with the formation. 3-5-2. Not Hornchurchs best formation as shown previous to todays game. 4-4-2 is the formation that Hornchurch play best in.

 

Secondly, substitutions. They came too late. Fair enough, it was a physical game and Greg Tiffin perhaps should not have started but he should have been at least on at half time. Secondly, where was Charlie Ball? (just an off the topic question but what has happened to Billy Drake? Where the [****!!****] is he?) Burbridge should also have been on earlier. Timmy and Luke both should have been taken off at half time.

 

For the first half we spent most of it arguing, the less about the second half the better.

 

Next, why the [****!!****] didn't we keep the ball on the floor? Whats with the route one long ball to no where [****!!****]?

 

We just didn't look up for it. On their third goal, why was Bug allowed so much space? Why wasn't the ball chased down quicker, where was everybody?

 

Four times this season we have played teams out of our league and all four times we haven't risen to the occasion. Braintree, fair enough, we wasn't exactly bothered about it. Cogenhoe we were lucky. As for Worthing and today, both crap.

I mean although it's a different team, the old Hornchurch would thrive on games against bigger teams, they would raise their game and we were known for giant killings and able to contest against these teams.

 

Anyway, no more big cup distractions lets just stick to the league and the two cups we're left in.

 

Sorry if I have offended anyone but I feel when we play sh*t it should be said, not just swept under the carpet.

3-5-2 was the formation and was one of our best performances for a long while...

 

So my point is why change for todays game, but i must agree the change should of been made sooner rather than later as it just wasn't happening on the pitch!!

 

Anyway football is about opinions and you have right to view yours.

Were was poor in every position today...and theres no getting away from that.

They looked fitter, sharper, and stronger then us....i wont mention the tactics as if we did win we would say how great we play with 3-5-2....but team selection wise...Tiffin to start would of been ideal...

 

one last thing can we get there no 11 please ?

you are indeed entititled to do that and I agree with some of the points that you have made...

 

everyone is entitled to an opinion on these forums and westy knows that...he's disappointed is all and I guess we all are a bit disappointed in the result and the performance...I had a good chat with the boys after the game and they know that they were poor...they were all down and hopefully the chat helped pick them up....

 

these are good players at the club and they love our football club as we all do...these are not 'journeymen' highly paid players but players that will play football anywhere at anytime...these players...our players... have got us to the top of the league and our players will keep us there...

 

we all know that saturday was poor but lets put it behind us and move on...3 big points away to brentwood to play for and that...in my opinion...is more important than the vase...and it won't be any easier either...

Anyone questioning the commitment of the lads should look at Danny's reaction when he scored and that of the rest of the lads. We conceded straight after through some sloppy defending but, we're hardly the first team to have done that.

Bottom line is that Saturday was an off day which every team at every level in football suffers from time to time.

The tactics were wrong and I'm sure Johnny himself recognises this on reflection. Isn't hindsight wonderful...?

 

I totally respect Private Messages opinion though.

Based on that game and perhaps even the last 3-4 (sorry Bridgey, I include Tuesday regardless of the scoreline)we seem to have struggled slightly and miss a creative spark in the centre.

The front pairing are getting minimal service at present.

A few people are reluctant to criticise the management/players because we are all tightly knit. People have to realise though that any criticism of someones game/tactics isn't an attack on the person. Merely an observation and perhaps that we hold them in higher regard for their ability than their performance suggested on that day.

Biggest problem is, though, we, the fans have had it too good over the past 4 seasons with our wins to losses ratio that any loss becomes unthinkable.

 

I would like to see the team altered slightly just to try something different. I'd have:

 

GK Collier

RB King(not favourite postion but need him in there)

CB Jordan

CB G Colby

LB P Colby

 

RM Tiffin

CM D Cowley

CM N Cowley

LM Bull

 

FW Holland

FW Heale

 

I just feel the Midfield needs a more attacking/creative look. Pace on the wings with technical skill and battling qualities in the centre.
