Match Thread v Fisher

Today was an excellent battling win against a fine side who just couldn't break us down. Defence was much improved with the addition of Masters and Mousinho, though there are still things to be worked on. Hodges' two goals were well worked and well finished, and let's face it, against the better sides, you have to take chances when they come along. We also lost Darron Wilkinson to injury in the first half which made things more difficult.

 

I think we deserved the points through sheer hard work, perseverance and determination.

I think Alexis showed a different side to his game today and really worked his nuts off when he came on, particularly in the second half, so credit to him.

Absolutely, forgot to say that - Alexis did so well coming on to replace Wilkinson. He was making tackles and closing the opposition down, which is a big improvement, as well as spraying some nice long balls around to get us moving on the break, which we've started to see from him more recently.

See, I told you he was a good player! His defensive work today ws excellent and let us not forget the superb long through ball to Brooks that set up the winner. A great performance all round but especially by Michael.

Excelent performance - real team effort, and if we play this well for the rest of the season we will cause the rest of the leauge real problems.

 

Also intresting to see that we had a proper first team bench - Harris, Sedel, Woodruff, Alexis, Parkin.

 

Well done Eddie for turning the team round.

The other thing worthy of mention today was how good the support was, particularly during the second half.

Yes, support was much better, but again, I think that was largely due to the team lifting the support rather than the other way round.

 

Much, much better than recent weeks and sounded very good in the first half as well from the other end. More of that please.

Excuse the words but, we showed some real balls today in our performance.

 

First-half we got battered a bit at times as they passed the ball really well, especially opening 30 mins. But second-half I can't remember them having a clear goalscoring opportunity and could have made it a lot more comfortable had Brooks not missed a one-on-one. Defence was outstanding second-half.

 

Brave defending, working hard and blocking shots deservedly winning us the match against a very good, and supposedly well-paid Fisher side.

 

That's the bravery we have been after all season. Great stuff - well done lads, certainally some relief at the end as shown by Hodgey's, Ballard's and Carbon's reactions!

Really good all round performance, we kept at it and managed to hold Fisher off. The support was great i thought in the second half it just shows it helps the team perform.

i said on wednesday that we needed a performance. still needs a bit of a tweak here and there, but they battled for those three points today. Motm was Alexis who was awesome

We battled today, and it was superb, we deserved the win and (almost) every player gave 100% (no names can't be bothered to be shot down) I thought Hodgy and Alexis were amazing today and being an early critic of Alexis will humbly bow down and admit i was wrong. If we can keep playing like that a top half finish still beckons (if we'd played like that since September we'd be top three and still in all cups though)

 

But all in all- a shitload better than it has been, well done to Eddie and the boys.

Defenately deserved three points today - an excellent display and all the players worked very hard I felt - something which we haven't seen recently.

Also was throroughly impressed with the upped standard today... much more aggressive and much more challenging. Also thought Alexis and Hodges deserved to be singled out as top players today although i also thought Brookes looked better today, (although he should have passed at at least two opportunities!)

I think we'll have a problem after Tuesday though when Brooks returns to Oxford as Millar is inexperienced and Seedel out of form, so we won't have a partner for Hodgey.
