i dont think it has anything to do with dedication. sometimes there are things that have to be done. if you work at the same time as a game, it has nothing to do with dedication that you cant make it, it is to do with you having to work. the key is if you are bothered or not. i miss quite a few week day games just because it is impossible to get to them because of work. it doesnt make me any less dedicated. it just means i dont have the ability to be in two places at once.

Sorry, have to disagree. The definition of dedication (yes I looked it up!!) is "commit oneself of one's time wholly to a special purpose or cause." In this case, you have had to dedicate yourself to work which is fair enough. By definition, if your dedication is with the football club over other factors such as work, then you will commit your time to it.

I reiterate, I didn't mention anyone was less of a fan because of this, that's something you guys have written. Maybe when I'm older my dedication will change, but for the moment it is well and truly with CIFC.

it is easy to give 100% to something when you are young, wait till rent, mortgage, career, family, partner, errands come into your life. by the definition to commit ones time, it is amazing how little time you have when you have commitments. if my job needs me to work when Canvey are playing then I have to work. if people with families have sick children then Canvey will take second place. this doesn’t show lack of dedication it just shows other commitments. what you are infact saying by only 'dedicating' yourself to Canvey is that you lack any other life.

That came across harsh, (it wasn’t ment to)

You're clueless mate. What do you want me to do, go sick every Saturday? I get every other Saturday off, but the others depend on what shift I'm on. I work four shifts and only one of them, which I'm on this Saturday, allows me to get over to Canvey for the football. It's an impossible situation and no amount of dedication would mean me being at every game, because that'd mean I'd be out of a job and thus couldn't go anyway.

You've got to wake up.

as far as the boxing day fixture goes, i couldnt be happier it has moved. there are two reasons,

a. i can never make boxing day due to family commitments and really wanted to get to this game,

b. i can now watch the football on TV on boxing day and then go and watch the game the day after.

it is still a public holiday so no one will be at work so i cant see that it makes any difference, infact i think it will increase the crowd as lots of people have to see the family on boxing day.

I'll almost certainly be working the day after Boxing Day and possibly the other one too. I can't see how it's not best having the game on the Sunday.

You are a mug. What kind of football fan gets a job on a that means you have to work on a Saturday and then uses that as an excuse not to go? Believe it or not, there are jobs out there where you don't have to work Saturdays!

I manage to get to every game and keep a job, as do thousands of football fans up and down the country, and around the world. Your job is higher in your list of priorities than CIFC, don't have a go just cos mine isn't.

You should go back to sleep.

Very good, mate, but making a decent living is more important to me than Canvey, yeah. You might be happy working in your packing factory, but I want to do something with my life. I don't use it as an exucse not to go, I don't go because I can't. If I could call you a stupid [****!!****] [****!!****] now, I would.

At least when Canvey make the Premiership I'll be able to afford to go.

Isn't it ironic that on a day named "Children In Need", I'm sitting here talking to an adult who is obviously lacking some basic criteria.

I'll go back to my packing now

Listen boys!!

We work to live, not live to work.

Life is short if we love football then that is our priority, OK a sick child is more important than football, a job aint.

I would change me job, unless of course I was a pro footballer.

The only other thing maybe if my son was playing football or a family funeral other than that its gotta be the game.

if someone quits a good job (which im assuming Rabbit has) because they miss a few games of football then they are the saddest bastards in the world. only a child could say somethinglike that. i agree with the work to live sentiment but if 22 men playing a game is the most important thing in your life, then you really need to get out more.

I have bunked off work and given up some important things to watch Canvey but i`ve also missed games for other things which to me were more important, everyones got their own priorities and they should stick to them.

We all want the same thing for CIFC and i don`t care if someone goes to every game of the season or just one as long as they support the club.

anyway whether your going or not you'll still be phoning up mates asking them the score or listening to updates on the radio remember its only one game on a friday night. some of us are lucky we have jobs

that allow us to go on saturdays others not so fortunate.

all that i would ask is to make it when you can.

and when you can let the players know your there and join the ever growing yellow army and make some noise!!

I dont understand where your coming from with these comments, Great Eckscape?

I decided to do something with my life that i have always wanted to do and it meant upping sticks and moving to Sheffield for a university course.

But before then (and you can ask anyone at Canvey about this) i used to go to every match and be a proper die hard supporter. I actually remember going to Northwood away on my own once in the pouring rain for a Ryman League Cup match and we lost 3-1. I've been supporting this team since our last season in the Essex Senior League and have been to more than 300 games in the last 11 and a half years. I'm even allowed to come in for free and carry on stewarding for the club like i always used too because i have loved and supported this club for years.

I have never stopped loving my team and wearing the shirts up here coz i am proud to be a Canvey fan. But what you are saying is that someone like me or a dad who has kids and humungous bills to pay when things have got steep, is not a dedicated fan, even know he probably went to every game for years before the sh*t hit the fan. Yeah, you shouldn't live to work, but i'm afraid a lot of people in this world have too and saying they are not committed or dedicated is stupid when you dont know the reasons for them not being there.

Do i really have to be there every game like you say i must in order to be dedicated if it means i lose out on money to live because these lads wont do it without me or something? Or should i miss the game if i have to because in all honesty, they get paid enough, so i'm not gonna lose sleep over missing a game here and there if it means i have more money in my pocket at the end of the week! Hell, that means i can go to the next few matches now because i got this work or family problem out of the way.

I still consider myself one of the most dedicated fans that Canvey have and i haven't been to a single game this season because i live in Sheffield. Ask anyone like Gary, Rich, Jim or Ken and they will tell ya so.

You just have to re-evaluate what dedicated REALLY means in football these days, especially when it comes to money and prices (Hey... even distance, like me) and weighing that up with responsability. Yeah, you are more dedicated than some but i dont think you have the right to say someone isn't dedicated when you obviously have no responsabilities like others. I think i'm on a par with you with being a passionate dedicated supporter but as i said, i'm in sheffield so i cant make the games. But that dont matter, coz i know i still am.
