How many times have we failed to score this year, compared to last?

You seem to forget, we are now in a higher league with many more teams at our level. In the ESL a large number of our games were bankers. In the SLE very few are.

The league is the most important thing this year and in our first season we are in third place. It normally takes time for newly promoted sides to find their feet. We have pretty much already.

Dear Mr Happy,
I, nor others are saying the team are not in a reasonable / good, even unexpected League position, which is great, but, there have been plenty of comments on the forum and at games when supporters have commented / complained about "the style" Town are playing this season.
Even the most blinkered supporter must see that the current system is not working on a weekly basis.
The Wakering game may have been a one off, but goals were scored.
Play the ball on the floor, around the defences and Paul and Hammett may score.
Lump it up in the air and they wont / aren't.
Most teams in the League have been bigger, stronger and more direct than we played last season, but they have players who can play to that system. We don't, so why persist with it ?
Our best football has been against teams who "play football" rather than the likes of Harlow, Dartford, Borehamwood etc who play to their strengths, ie long ball to their big front runners.
Question for you.
What would the 9 from Borehamwood ( who we all thought was a thug ) have done to the Redbridge defence ?
Perhaps we could do with a stronger front line ? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" />

Uh-Oh carry on & I can see a back page spread in the Advertiser from JC again!

Seriously though Old Towner, Lovely, Arky are all correct & lets be fair others including myself have been saying this all season, we need a big centre forward, a target man if you like, a nuisance, someone to hold the ball up, the only one that gets close as far as im concerned is Dean Greene, yes I know he has been injured & the rumour mill has it he prefers right midfield but thats all we have that I can see.

Where's Richard Cherry when you need him!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/busted.gif" alt="" />

Yeah kev could do a job,but it seens that our strikers have got no pace, that was the case the other night against a poor Redbridge side, who were slow at the back.I think Brian holds the ball
up well, just need someone to play off him?
Any thoughts on that??

If you regard just playing the ball backward ten feet everytime you're in posession, as holding the ball up well ,then yes he's very good at it.

That's the trouble, its two predictable. At the moment the same four things are happening every time Town attack:

1.The ball is played high to our two strikers ,who lose the header and the midfield chase the scraps as the ball comes back.

2. One of the forwards acually wins a flick header, but the other forward doesn't get to the ball ahead of a the defender.

3.Hammett gains posession of the ball, closly marked by a defender,he heads towards his own goal and lays it backwards.

4. Paul gains posession runs diagonally across the pitch with the ball until he is disposessed.

Ideally we need a forward with physical presence and pace,to play alongside one of the other two.
