chalky i didn't say that if we moved, people from the point wouldn't go, its just then we have the reverse affect that the people at the point will then say its agg getting to the ground from there end.

my point was that i think we should concentrate on getting people in and then when the base is a lot better, then think about moving. the new ground is taking our concentration away from that.

I dont think we will ever better our attendances at Park Lane. The only way to do it is to move, go full-time or get successful like Grays. I'm afraid these things will only ever happen all at once.

 

While we stay at Park Lane, we stay mid-table conference. In order for the club to progress in the league, the club must must first show progress with a new ground. This is the only way forward for clubs who want success.

I think we've probably got to be a bit patient with our team. Over the last decade we've had some tremendous achievements but we're now playing at our highest ever level. Things will be harder than they were in the Ryman Leagues and progression will slow almost to a halt.

To paraphrase the popular chant, 'we're just a small town in Essex'. We probably shouldn't even be competing at this level, especially when you consider that there's teams like Weymouth in a lower league than us, who have over 1000 average home attendance and a decent ground, yet we are here and we're holding our own.

As much as I want us to be like that and be full-timers as well, it's going to take time.

 

Having said that, we need to start attracting fans, because without them we're not going to attract the players and that could lead to us dropping out of the league.
