Haven't been on here for sometime so I was just wondering...

Did you purchase the Lennon re - issues "Sometime In New York" and "Walls And Bridges". Both do benefit from the re mastering but extras are a little on the cheap side. I've amended my view of "Sometime"...it's not a bad album, it's just not very good (if that makes sense) but I can live with it now (apart from the "Yoko" live track).

I would agree that "Walls" is a damn fine Lennon album.

"Concert For Bangladesh" - Both DVD and CD are top and although not the best live album (sorry, Live At Leeds by The Who still tops it for sheer energy and ballsy performance), I've amended my view of that...it's in my top 5 and certainly better than Live Aid, Live 8 and all that bollox!!! I mean, Harrison, Dylan, Starr, Clapton...these guys are superstars and not "Johnny Come Lately's". And the solo in "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is just brilliant and certainly benefits for being "under rehearsed"...

Anyway, take care and I look forward to your comments. I'll try to get on here before Xmas to wish you guys (inc. Thornsey) a merry Crimo and a Happy New Year...(Well, I've now done that but I'll re do it nearer the time...)

Good luck to ya all!!!

Hi Gazza,

I haven't bought the Bangladesh DVD yet - it's on my Christmas present list, so I'll just have to be patient! The only footage I've ever seen of it was a grainy two minutes of While My Guitar Gently Weeps which was shown at the end of one of the episodes of the Beeb's Rock And Roll Years series from 1986!

I haven't bought the re-mastered versions of those two albums, although I own the original CD releases of both. I'm never too sure where I stand on re-mastering. I like the idea of hearing stuff how it was originally meant to be heard.

Though having said that, I think you and I have had a conversation before about how the original vinyl of Sgt Pepper sounds totally different to the CD, so who knows!?

I think Brian Wilson said of the CD re-mastering of Pet Sounds that, "nothing has been added - you can just hear more of what was there before".
