Here is my team and the 5 subs.

 

Woodsy,Gav,Marso,Rizzo,Joppo,Batesy,Foxy,Lowery,Benstock,Jonah,Taff.

 

Subs : Woolfy,Locke,Cowley,Carter,Crippsy.

 

Left Out : Nathan,Ollie,Pricey,Appicella,Macca,Rothon,Joey,Pyney

 

Should create a good talking point, so who wants Micks job??

I dont think we should be thinking of one "best team" as we have a squad full of talent and ability. Away from home the team you picked was spot on maybe finding a role fore lockey as he has got the know how, but at home I think we should vary our tactics and really go at teams maybe playing wide players or two attacking players in the middle of the park or three up front. 3-5-2 the way we play it is ideal away from home as he look very solid but I think sometimes we struggle to break teams down at home. Saturday the tactics were spot on and im sure Jonah and Taf would like more games with improved service into them.

From what I've seen this season and what I saw Saturday, I'd have the following 4-4-2 formation.

 

Woods

 

Carter Risley Marsden Bates

 

McGowan Lowery Locke Benstock

 

Martin Jones

 

If we want to give our forwards quality from wide areas then there will be no two better people to do it than Gavin and Danny.

Woods- Been ok so far!(does make shocking blunders)

Carter- Looks a very average player! (when fit)

Bates- Just lays it back to Jopson all game!(over rated)

Risley- Most consistent player!(does his job well)

Marso- Has also been ok!(does find kicking into touch rather easy)

Jopson- After getting it off Bates he smashes it as far as he can!(heard he is easy to play against)

McGowen- Has crossed well! but last 3 games been pegged back!(needs to improve)

Fox- Has looked one of the better players!(should be a starter!)

Cowley- Plays to his strengths, but needs more!(Talks a good game)

Lowery- Loses ball to much!(squad player)

Benstock- Can see he is a good player! (but needs to work alot harder on his defensive duties)

Locke- Very similar to any other midfielder! Does not stand out!(he is not worth the money he is getting)

Jones- Has really been quite poor in front of goal!(should work on his finishing in training)

 

Can't really comment on the other players like Cripps,Tungate,Woodman,Rothon,Pyne,Price and Appicella as none of them have really had a chance!

 

Saying all that! you are sitting quite nicely in the league!

Can I have my four pennyworth lads, agreeing with all that is said above, and it is absolutely essential that everybody pulls together in this our most important season for many a year. A very well done to all the squad who have got our 4th position on merit, and nothing but praise for Mick Gary & Dyso in their coaching, Del & Martin on the physio side. In my opinion we have to have a complete squad, in order to compete in every position, and in order to vary our tactics for whoever we are playing. The quiet man plays a very important part here, he knows who he is and is doing a superb job in analysing future opponents, which I am sure they do to us, but if we keep them guessing because we have such a good squad then we must benefit. A special mention to the Riverside fans keep up the noise cos the players love it as loud as you like. Also a mention to the Ressies, well done you must have amvbitions lads, and the u18s u16s keep it going boys your chance will come. You all have our support 100%

And there we have it, it took about 12 hours but finally we get an idiot on this topic, back four of Marsden,Rizzo,Jopson,Bates who will play right back??? Who is Crowley do you actually come to watch any of the games a class above are you really sure what do you base this on?? He does loads of shouting and runs round like a headless chicken for 90 minutes and gives away loads of fouls. Nathan is a 17 year old with lots to learn and he needs to do this in the reserves, he is nowhere near a first team player, tell me one thing that he has over Jonah????

The only bloke I never want to see in an Urchins shirt again, is the guy who was playing as wing back for us away against Aveley. To say the guy was crap, is doing him too much justice. I can't remember what his name was, all I know is I haven't seen him in the starting line up since and long may it continue. He was shocking, couldn't pass, couldn't run, couldn't tackle and reminded me of one of those really poor players you had at school, that tried to hide behind other players in hope his team mates wouldn't pass to him.

 

Wouldn't like to see Nathan completely removed from the first team though. Like you say, needs to learn his trade in the reserves, but I think an occassional outing on the bench and run out would help him and us no end. I thought the game he had against Aveley was class. And just because he is young doesn't mean he shouldn't get a look in, just look at the likes of Defoe and Rooney!

 

Don't agree with peoples opinions on Locke and Jonah though, both are class and do look a cut above the rest. Like I have said previously, we have been playing the wrong sort of game for Jonah, he feeds on crosses and balls to feet, not the long ball down the middle of the park. Sorry Top 11, but you are talking rubbish, I'll have money that says Jonah, assuming he stays free from injury, will be our top scorer by a long way this season and probably the divisions top scorer too! Shocking??? I don't think so, it does take time to settle in to this level of football, with all due respect to our boys, Jonah has been used to playing with lot better players over the past 10 years or so. The whole style of football in division will be different from what he has been used to playing previously.

Politley to the Jonah Fan Club you don't know what you are talking about!! For one, before you slate anyone off make sure you get your facts right. Agreed our left wing back at Aveley didn't have a good game that night but he has featured a number of times during the season and if you were there Sat against Tilbury he played very well for 90 mins !!!

Secondly Jonah actually prefers the ball over the top and openly admits he is not an 'into feet striker' like Taff. We all hope he scores lots of goals but to say he and Locky are a class above the other players is harsh on the other players. At times they are but they have not found it that easy to adjust.

Theres been plenty of good performances from the other 'non-league' players. Your overall knowledge of football therefore does come into question !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
