Wexham Park

Just been and had a nose aroung the ground and the place is falling apart the boards are all breaking up, the stand cracking up, paint peeling weeds coming through the floor and the pitch is utter crap. What a huge loss to think the good memories of the place are all going to pot and the stadium will almost certainly be turned in to housing cause no one wants to hit the nail on the head and sort this bloody mess out it makes my blood boil. The place was one of the best for a team of our level ample parking etc, now we just have to sit back and watch the last gasp of air be strangled out of the club. What are we as supporters meant to do we are stuck in Windsor and have no way back, Mr Deaner seems to have dissapered. So just what is happening?

I think the only way we can feasibly return there is if we were to buy the site. Any form of rent/lease won't do us any favours, and in effect will probably be more expensive to us than groundsharing somewhere else.

Anyone got a spare three million or so quid?

I wonder whether we could just go back for a few years untill we have something in place to go to, cause they cant build houses on it so rent from us would sureley be extra cash for the thorne family and would be better than being anywhere else. Next season we will be looking for a renewal of ground share at windsor because it is up at the end of the season is it not.

We've been over this haven't we? Ryman rules want minimum security on the lease of seven years. Why would Mayfair want to grant us a minimum seven year lease which would preclude them from cashing in on their investment for that period if the existing restrictions on the use of the land were to change?

Unless someone offers Byron a stupid amount of money and the opportunity to cash in early it's game over as far as Wexham Park is concerned. That's not Martyn Deaner's fault - that was assured many years ago when the council did a deal with Mayfair for them to allow us to play there in exchange for the opportunity to purchase the freehold.

Why do you think they never kicked us out when they didn't get the rent money? If they had they'd have breached the agreement and would have lost the right to purchase it. As soon as they got the opportunity to acquire the freehold our fate, as far as WP is concerned, was sealed. Best to channel out efforts into other areas.

I know we're not in exactly the best of financial health but we're in a better position than them over the ground share issue.

We have a few potential options on where to play whereas Windsor do not have any others sources of £25k (or even £10k for that matter if we ended up paying less). On that basis you could argue they need us more than we need them.

Err, no it isn't. This is the thing with the STFC fans, unless the team is playing well or putting pressure on the opposition, the chanting isn't there. A few of the fans behind the goal aside, it won't get started if the team isn't playing well on the pitch and dominating their opponents.

Can't see what difference a cover would make for a bunch of supporters who lack in numbers (vocally) and lack in sound when the team aren't playing well. (like at the moment)

How the hell do you figure that one out Ian, we've got a ground that we'll never be kicked out of and you HAD a ground you didn't pay the rent on. That doesn't sound like a stronger position to me!

Whether it's £25k or £10k is irrelevant if you haven't got the money and it doesn't look like Mr Deaner will bankroll the club for much longer does it?
