More trouble at ramsgate

From what i understand trouble in local pubs and in the ground,

Is this because they are a small club not used to a half decent crowd, with a half decent team visiting, although from what i understyand there has been trouble without the large away support of a team before this season

Is it because failure to invest in segreagtion and corret policing, they had been warned of the numbers of travelling supporters,

Will Margate take measures after todays results in Rmasgate, because I know after reading this forum, there are fans that still believe that when we play Wimbledon we will not have segregation, well i,m sorry but if todays violence is anyhting to go by, there is no option. we do not live in a peaceful society with fans having the intention of enjoing a game of football,

Log on to the rams forum and then the wombles forum, we should take note

Segregation WILL be in place. I have that on good authority and this was arranged some time ago so todays episode had no bearing on Margates preparation. As far as I am aware the club(Margate) have all safety measures in hand already. Ramsgate were ill prepared therefore the trouble. No-one can guarantee there WONT be trouble but if all avenues are covered as much as can be then the odds of it happening are reduced, obviously. Was speaking the other week to the head steward about this game coming up and again today and things seemed to have been covered. If there was any doubt about police attendance then today will surely cement the need for them to be there, and they possibly might. However we do have a friendly fanbase so hopefully that will be a help. The only problem I can see is the vast amount of away supporters stuck down the coffin end in possibly cold weather conditions and in a tight bunch. Mind you if form is anything to go by they may well be 3 up anyway therefore a possible invasion to any other part of the ground by away supporters would seem unlikely in that case. Only the strength of the pitch barriers and rear wooden barriers will be a concern in my view what with the cramped spaces at that end especially if they want to go onto the pitch in celebration as may well happen with the numbers coming down.

Its going to be tricky and will require heaps of concentration on the day but I have every confidence that our club will be on the ball on the day.

If we go a goal up or actually WIN the game then that will possibly be a problem in the making. Still, to be honest I cant really see that happening can you? Still, lets be optimistic and say we WILL win the game. But be prepared AGAIN should that unlikely result come about.

Allegedly a group of Ramsgate fans started the trouble with racist abuse of a AFCW supporter, burning kids with cigarettes, and fighting. The stewards had no radios! Drinking on the terraces etc etc. Ramsgate substitutes allegedly encouraging their fans to carry on and then applauded the troublemakers at the final whistle. Nice club.

Sure should be 1500 minimum, Cookie. I can't wait for this game as it will be great to have a big crowd in Hartsdown again. I'm quietly pleased that Ramsgate didn't get anywhere near their pigs might fly 1500 figure that they predicted as it will show in two weeks time who is clearly the biggest and best club in Thanet.

Apparently something on the Ryman forum that these thugs want to "finish the job off at Margate" - a reference to the group who caused the trouble at Ramsgate. I think police will be a very good idea if the club wants to ensure things go smoothly and that we have a clean reputation after the game. Already many AFCW fans are writing to the FA, Kent FA and let's just say that Ramsgate have their card well and truly dirtied now.

From the Ramsgate forum:

Quote:
"The game was awful to watch. However in the 1st half there was some fighting in the stands between AFC and "so called" rams supporters.

2 people (inc a 12 year old) are reported injured and there are approx 3 or 4 arrest made by police. I spoke to a ramsgate official and ask why was there no police present from begining of match , he said the police felt he it not a big match and refused to police it! HOW WRONG WAS THEY!

Ramsgate had some good stewarts, but not enough i'm affraid. These thugs who started the fight are known to the police already and it seems this was planned from the start. There were a few idiots from AFC, however in genreal really nice fans and there was alot of familys there who witness this awful violence.

I also witness 4 ramsgate players abuse 3 afc fans for goining the wrong way to find the loos.

I'm afriad i heard this thug shouting at a frightend AFC Fan, saying that he will finish the job when they are at margate. "

AND, Ramsgate fans blaming the troublemakers on us and Herne Bay!

You weren't there (neither was I) so I suggest you keep your hearsay to yourself and concentrate on your relegation struggle. Should be used to that by now.

And to keep this in perspective, this is being caused by literally a handful of people who have been banned from football league grounds and cannot be described as Ramsgate supporters. You should try and find out who they are before your game with AFCW and see if the police are willing to do their job properly for a change.

I was not there either Clive but it seems to me that the club had seriously underestimated the risk of the game. It was common knowledge around town during the week that something was going to go on (although not to the extent that it did....I am hearing tales of running battles with police and a pub being smashed up about 7pm) and there should have been better measures to try to prevent it.

I agree that Margate should look at this and see what extra can be done for their visit to Hartsdown as this 'Stone Island Crew' will be looking for a second part, but obviously wont be going to the replay for it.

And while I am at it the following on the Ramsgate forum shows that the club do not help themselves to win over fans of other clubs http://www.nonleague.co.uk/forum/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/682091/an/0/page/0#682091
