IRON MAKE HISTORY

Saturday 22nd October - Crawley Town (0)0-1(1) Braintree Town

Braintree Town reached the competition proper of the FA Cup for the first time in their 107-year history following Saturday’s single-goal victory at Nationwide Conference side Crawley Town. Having withstood the early onslaught from the home side, which saw the woodwork come to Braintree’s aid, the Iron took the lead on 19 minutes when Eugene Ofori’s 25-yard drive deceived the home ‘keeper. Thereafter Braintree took the game to their full-time hosts and looked the better of the two sides either side of the break. Crawley came at Braintree as the game came to a close, but the dependable Iron defence stood firm to steer the Club into the First Round Proper for the first time.

I thought Akurang was at Heybridge? They've got Eugene Ofori who was a quality striker at Hendon.

Refering to Linneycifc's comment,

I disagree with your comment about the cup. I think the league is the most important competition for us but a good run in the Essex Senior Cup is a good thing for the squad. It gives some of the other squad members a chance for a run out to prove themselves like top clubs do in the League Cup, while other first team players such as Boylan and Mints get to have a rest. Players like Lee Jay benefit from this.
