(Steve Daly. Wilko. Mets. &Hodges) Slough's Backbone.

Maybe Not Hodges, but the three others have , and have had their critics. And I am not bemoaning all of our other players.

Wilko was going to retire at the end of last season. How glad should we be that he did not? He was only going to be used sparingly , but because of Metcalfs injury he is playing 90 minutes every game.

Metcalf has the Slough supporters split in two, you either love him or hate him. Yes, his passing does let him down now and again, but he isn't there to spray the ball around like Glenn Hoddle. His workrate is excellent, and I think we are really missing him at the moment.

Quite a few times last season, Daly was called the weak link at the back......to slow.....he's had it..............while Saulsbury and Murphy got all of the praise (They were/are two very good players), the good form of these two would overshadow poor old Steve. These two have gone now, and there replacements are not as good, but thankfully, Steve is still with us, Daly, has his critics, and we all know he isn't getting any younger or faster(!), but I honestly think that without him this season we would be FOOKED!

Everyone expects Hodges to score in everygame, and yes he can have a poor one now and again, but even when he is not scoring, he is everywhere causing problems, annoying defenders, creating goals, and he can play in defence when needed.

You can tell I am bored at work, but my ramblings are just trying to point out that, while things are not great at the moment,we should realise that:............

If we Lost both wilko and metcalf, can you imagime Mason or Alexis bossing Midfield?

If we Lost Hodges, no goals, and I'm sure the oppositon would rather defend against the ambling Seedal than the hustle and bustle of Hodges.

To me the worst Scenario, No Daly. Our leader,(only Josias comes close to shouting as much as Steve). Even now,(Steve is 93) how often does he get beat in the air?

Our young defenders would not cope without Steve.

People moaning on here and at games that we need more players...............................

WE HAVE NO BLOODY MONEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have what we have got, and that to me is better than nothing!
