St Albans 1-1 Billericay

Before the game I would have taken a point (away to the league leaders after all), having seen the game disappointed that we didn't take all 3. 1st half we were much the better side, ref had a 'mare (apparently it's "ball to hand" if you punch the ball away from an attacking player at Cressing Rd) we had 3 good penalty shouts turned down as well as some good possession and good chances for Dj and Roy. 2nd half Stalebuns got a pen, De Souza hit post. Stalebuns looked a better side 2nd half than 1st took the lead through de Souza after JJ had made a good save from 1st attempt reboud fell to St Albans. Billericay drew level quickly though through super DJ and still could have won it with Richie Graham and DJ again both having 1/2 chances. If St Albans are the best team in the league then we've not much to worry about on this showing.

 

Results elsewhere mean we are now 2nd!

i felt we were good value for a point and probably worth a bit more.

 

we started well again bossing the game in the first half with plenty of possession but i felt we didnt create too many clear cut openings (again) altho we had a couple of decent penalty shouts turned down

 

second half was more even and more open. it was a shame desouza responded quicker than our defence to score their goal after another great save by jj. this was after the same player had hit the post after they got a pen. dj scored for us and i felt we created more chances with carthy n dj both shooting wide prior to this. i think that in the last week we have been up against some useful forwards (cobb, desouza,browne) and not given away too much which is clearly encouraging.

 

it would have been a travesty if we had got nothing out of the game and the players should take great confidence from the fact that there is nothing in this league to scare us and hopefully we can go on from here.

 

its great that a game at home to enfield now becomes a big one n lets hope we can get to the top of the league come tuesday night.

Well you say that you played better in the first and us in the second in my book that makes a draw a fair result which I aggree with.

 

I was very impressed with DJ Campbell and you are one of the better teams we played this season, we were a bit disjointed and i think our position at the top is only because of everyone elses failures around us. To be fair we haven't played well for the last 8 games (of which we have only won 2) after winning the first 7, lets hope this is our bad patch as we were fantastic for the first 7 games.

 

I'm sure both teams will finish in the Top 5 and as long as Canvey or Aldershot don't win it then I don't mind.

We saw quite a lot of goals in the return fixture though <img src="/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif" alt="" />

it was a very useful point, but as i was walking away from the ground i felt gutted because we had outplayed supposedly the best team in the division and made them look very ordinary, created far more chances and had far more possesion. on another day we might have got a few of those decisions that went against us, but it wasn't to be!

Agree with Paul S, could've had 3 points, but a draw away to the league leaders is a sound result. DJ - quality, Ollie - his best game so far, The EFM - did they turn up? Aldershot losing - again, shame!!! Top of the league tuesday???????

If Bishops Stortford v City is postponed then yes I think you have a very good chance of being top on Tuesday, keep it warm for us!
