Played a 4-5-1 with Greggors up front. Dicksy was keeping young Dalgleish quiet and Bodders, in his last game for the club, was a rock

They got frustrated and were down to 10 after half an hour. When they were down to 9 during the latter stages, Jeff threw more men forward and it paid off with a Greggors goal.

 

A future date with Northampton then beckoned on Live Sunday Match of the Day.

 

Incidentally after that game, Wigan must have started their progress to where they are now, so in a way, another club that can be thankful due to playing us and kick starting their climb. Southend are the other.

I just remember as the ball was falling to Greggors thinking "take your time, bring it down, slot it home." Instead, he hit it on the full volley and nearly broke the net. Incredible game and arguably our finest hour when you look at their progress.

The club have got a mention in an article on Paul Jewell in the centre pages of the Sun.

 

Basically said that the word out on the street was that Jewell was about to get the bullet after the defeat. They finished 10th in the division in the end and have gone from strength to strength thereafter.
