Club gesture & apology. F /A /O. MFC

Bearing in mind the awful performances we have had to endure of late,at home in particular, and bearing in mind also those die-hards who still keep coming back despite being made to feel embarrassed, how about a HALF-PRICE ADMISSION CHARGE for TUESDAYS,game to show the clubs appreciation for the large and consistent attendances. This would also be seen as an apology I think for the dismal displays on the pitch. This would only be a one-off of course but it would be a help in keeping fans interests in the club at at a time when dissallusionment is creeping in. It could possibly tempt those that didnt want to come on Tuesday to come after all.Any money lost could be gained by an increased attendance on the night compared to what it would have been. Would also be a good P.R excercise too if it were mentioned in the local and on the local news channels. Tuesday will bring a lot less fans so how about giving thema reward for there commitment to the club. What better time to do such a thing than Tuesday night. If it can be done it will do wonders for eveyrone including the club but it has to be mentioned quickly before tuesday morning I think.

If you are looking in Keith or anyone from the club could you take it on yourselves to do this small thing for us fans who have not deserted you over these past few years & who have been most loyal despite everything including dire performances on the field.

Am sure as a goodwill gesture this would go down well with everyone.

n.b A copy of the above has been sent to the club via e.mail in the last 5 minutes for their hopeful immediate attention.

Whats your opinion on this suggestion? I would like to think that any positive replys on this,on our forum, could help the cause.

You cannot link off field admission charges with performances on the pitch, otherwise using your logic all teams at the bottom of every league should charge less than those at the top of leagues.

However there is some merit in your suggestion, as this is not a league game. However the Ryman league may insist that their league cup come under the same charging structure as league games .. I am not sure. If not the club would probably attract more people if they reduced prices and said so in Tuesday's local.

I hope we use this game constructively to continue to work towards our best line up. Our turnover of players, and also our turnover of who plays where, seem most un Kinnear like at the moment. I am patient, and see it settling down fairly soon. Mind you, I am not having to watch the matches, just relying on what people put on here.

I think this is a total nonsense.

I also think that if this forum of late is an indication of the clubs 'support' we are in serious trouble.

Games so far at home this season have not set the world alight, but what kind of message does this send out? And what effect can this have on the morale of the team and the club?

Patience and tolerance, and yes a bit of optimism and generosity will get us through the changes and the transitions we are going through, not knee jerking and flaying our players, manager, and club officials.

I am pretty displeased with the reaction to Saturday - this place is a sad one to visit at the moment.

Cheer up MF

750 people were entertained on saturday, though it was'nt the result we all wanted.

It takes time to build a team and we are fortunate to have the management team we have.

I am sure most people expect a blip in performance at some time and the team has been somewhat battered in recent games ,several opposition players seem to be punching above their weight so as to speak.

Lets all look forward to a settled team at some point and let the players respond to any critism in the right way.

Finally can i have some posters for Broadstairs please anybody?

Our performances have been atrocious of late & Saturdays was no different. I am not going to come on here and praise a performance that dosent warrant it. I will not lie to others & will not tell it how it wasnt. As for Graeme above,I enjoyed your post above but I think you should come along to a match and see for yourself just what we are being put through of late.I am sure the team CAN perform but Saturday was diabolical & didnt deserve one iota of praise. Some of us are not as forgiving as others but we still support and pay our entrance fee because its our team.If this had been a one off I could understand us getting a few comments slung back at us that we shouldnt slate the team but this hasnt been the case at home.It dosent make us any less of a supporter for speaking out.We have all understood the "stay patient" bit about trying to get players in,"waiting for the gel" etc but the season is now one-third through if not more and something should have started to show by now.

I am not advocating praising performances that were so blatantly awful, such as Saturday. I was as unhappy with it as anyone.

But it is unreasonable to surmise from a bad performance that all the players are useless and have no talent. That is patently wrong and unfair. I do not think for a moment that any of them run out on match day with the intention of playing badly.

My argument is that continually telling everyone how crap they are is hardly constructive or motivating. I would not like it, and I do not think many people, in whatever walk of life or ocupation, would accept it either.

What no one has mentioned is that Chelmsford are on a very good run of form at the moment.

Looking at recent games, we went to Fisher and played really well. At Braintree we restricted a team guaranteed to a top five place to a handful of chances - even when down to ten men.

The margins between victory and defeat in this league are very narrow.

Defensively, there is very little wrong with us. But going forward it's too predictable.

i wouldnt call what we have witnessed for this season entertainment it is very sad to see our team giving us so little to cheer about.i like others come away from each game feeling more and more upset with what we have seen.gates will very soon be down to 4or500 mabe less in bad weather.i dont mind loosing but its the manner in which we lose is the problem.simply its just not good enough to warrent the entrance money

Cookie, how about an INCREASE in the admission prices generally? Then the club would be able to benefit from increased income and the possibility of attracting better players!

I believe the admission fee still good value for money and would willingly pay £10 a game instead of £8. (keep the childrens price the same!!)

We are giving our honest opinions and theres nothing wrong with that. Ian,would you pay MORE to watch that rubbish?. At least a lot of us pay the entrance fee on a regular basis Ian,some more than others,DESPITE bad efforts on the pitch. We still go back looking for that improvement.Thatis what a fan does, unlike some. As for the players we can only comment on their talent by what they show us at the time and all too often we get the same rubbish. They are earning their money under false pretences. Only the players can silence the critics including myself & those that dont get on this forum. If someone is disgruntled with something its no good sitting back hoping things get better. To complain can only make things better not worse otherwise the same thing will continue. If the players cant taske critisism especially after dour performances like that then they shouldnt be footballers.

I look forward to the time when I can heap praise on team performances. There is nothing better than to come on here or go away and praise the team.If they can take the praise then they should take the stick also.

No not too tongue in cheek. Seriously though, a tenner for an afternoons football is good value.

You cannot fail to go through EVERY emotion while watching football, the highs, the lows, the humour, at times comedy football, banter, the sheer farce, tragedy and at times hilarious goings on are worth every penny. When it all comes together its a brilliant, fantastic high.

Thats what makes this snapshot of the team where they are now, such an irrelevance in the wider context of the club history and future. Yes it is frustrating to have tasted Conference football and having it taken away from us, but that will make the moment even sweeter when it does all come back again. Take the rough with the smooth and all this will be reminisced in seasons to come as "Do you remember that time when we couldn't pass a ball.................blah blah"

Or alternatively, take your democratic freedom of choice and do something else on a Saturday afternoon.

i cannot see the point in getting loan players in just for the sake of it. The players that have been brought in are mainly no better than the players we have already. So when a loan player is brought in a player is left out deemed not good enough. When the loaee has gone the player is suddenly good enough to play.loan players in for a short time only disrupt the team in general not allowing the tem to gel. I accept loan players are useful for long term injury. generaly short team loan players are a waste of time.Lets see a settled team

A week is a long time in a football club and MFC now have the ideal opportunity to silence the detractors with two home cup games away from the stresses of the league. Two good performances which are long overdue at home and two good results and we will suddenly all be optimistic again. It will be interesting to see how the team reacts to the recent criticisms.

I for one will still gladly pay the £8 admission fee as, like Ian says football has its up & downs. Yes I was disappointed to see lack of committment on Saturday. I watched poor Charlie, shaking his head in disbelief at times during the 2nd half! But at the end of a day I feel part of Margate & just hope that the team gets its act together quickly. I will still continue to print the posters, at my own expense, as I feel this still brings in a few extra faces (well I hope so).

I seem to have been mis-understood with my original post. My suggestion,as that all it was,was for,on this particular night,a show of thanks from the club to its fans. Maybe losing some of those fans from Saturday, this would both keep them coming & have them realise that the club does appreciate them for their past attendances during the 3 year exodus. The performance on Saturday, widely known by everyone including the club officials was just another reason for my suggestion to give concessionary entrance on tuesday only, for having seen very little form at home. I cant remember a game at HOME that I can honestly say we played well in. Of course I am sure we will all be more than happy to continue paying the £8 entance fee,I know I will and even if were £9 or £10 should that be the case but together with the above another reason it would be to get good media coverage of the club showing their gratitude to the fans commitment. If the club deem it NOT to do this then so be it but if you dont ask you dont get!

I too have calmed down a lot since Saturday & though the suggestion may have seemed a little strange to some I can assure you it was meant for the good of this club. I would like to thank everyone for their comments on this. Like I say it was only a suggestion to the club anyway.I thought it would go down well all round & I am sorry others think otherwise but talking things over is the reason we come on here. The club have not replied or intimated to me or the fans that this one off cut-price-offer will be given so thats the end of that so we should all get there if we can then, pay the normal admission & continue to follow our club in the best way that we know despite it being only a Westview tie & despite our own individual thoughts on performances.

Apologies to anyone that I may have offended during this debate.
