Can you explain what DS was doing besides impersonating a headless chicken.

DS had some good touches in the game, and broke up some play down the left hand side, i feel that the player has a lot of potential, and just needs another good midfielder playing in the centre of the park to be able to begin some good link up play, i feel he is a good player, but is suffering from poor players around him, his freekicks and corners were also well positioned, but again weren't captalised on as no one in a blue shirt tries to attack the ball!

His corners were [****!!****]. Too many floaters. No-one can out jump the defences. Needs more pace from them.DS was starting out as full back but was often seen in the right wing position. This is something I have brought up before and he is still doing it Bless him for getting about everywhere but it leaves us open at left full back position. He should be supporting the front men with overlaps down the left, shouldnt be taking corners and should be keeping the shape more.

On yesterdays performance I dont feel I can single him out but seeing as though his name came up I thought I would make my mention of him.

No, im sure as soon as another couple of good midfield players come into the club (Gradley's return and A.N.Other?) then we'll see a lot more from DS... then again, I could be wrong and this may well be the best we ever see from him, I'd like to be proven right though! Also, as Cookie said, he does put effort into it, which is more than can be said for a lot of other players that were out there yesteurday!

Standen looked good at fullback, but with the midfielders not looking for the ball he was reduced to long balls towards the front players. His long passes are better than anyone else in our side except Keister (better than Bill's IMO).

He also has one very useful quality which is rare at this level of football: he can play with either foot.

The positional thing is a problem though. His rocket shot yesterday came from approximately the inside right area. Also, he argues with the officials too much.

If we can field a strong back four (yes, four!), this guy will be ideal on the left side of it.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Standen moves up to league football at some point. He is the kind of player that doesn't get much praise from fans but catches the eye of scouts. I'll give you one example: Adam Miller, formerly of Aldershot, signed up by QPR.

I'd also say that i think Standen is one of our better players; and when i saw him fulfill the left wing back role he did particularly well.

Interesting that hew appears to have played rerasonably well in that position yesterday.

I similarly can see his career progressing positively.

Reminds me of the reaction that Leberl got, -not similar in style- but similar in crowd reaction-and in his second season JL became a 'favourite',but his game was no different.

These unsung heros break up alot of attacks.

Surely if he had any kind of talent he would have shown it by now. How many more games is he going to get before he actualy has a good game. With the amount of starts he is getting its odds on that one day,far in the future probably,he will have a decent game & then all the blind out there will be saying" There you go we always said he was good". Give anyone enough chances and they will eventually have an above average game. I fear we may never see that from this particular player though, not whilst he's with us anyway.

In the meantime the results will get us relegated again. Why should we have to carry him all the time. Playing a man short every game will not see us progress or get the results that we so badly need at this time. I will tell you something, that if ever he gets dropped or gets injured and cannot play that will be the day that we put on a good performance and at the same time get three points. I am open for a quote on this statement.
