City 2 Eastleigh 4

Recommended Posts

Don't think today's result was that much of a shock - fact is - city have not been playing well for a while.

Today the centre halfs didn't seen to be getting along too well - this resulted in Seeby being drawn out of position.

Midfield Cracknell seems to go missing for long periods and age is catching up on Roddis.

The forward line needs Clarke to regain his touch and Graham misses the support of Cousins.

Still the spirit was good today and they did keep trying to the end.

Don't know the answers - hope Sir Lippy does !

Thank goodness things aren't as bad as last year

Think you're being too kind there, CS!

This game reminded me of the Cambridge one, and not just because of the scoreline.

We were hoplessly exposed in midfield every time an attack broke down with Hann and Graham pushed forward leaving only Roddis and Cracknell between the opposition and the back four.

Flynn and Hankin seemed to do alright but I'd rather have Cousins and Ada any day, with Davis in midfield.

Maybe it's time to sacrifice a winger and play three across the midfield to cut off the supply lines down the flanks.

Yeading and Maidenhead play similarly to Eastleigh, fast and direct, so hopefully CL will have taken note of yesterday's shortcomings.

It was very disappointing on Saturday, but we can't expect to keep playing like that and get away with it. We seem to be struggling to get it down on the floor and pass the ball in any flowing manner. We deffo miss Scott Cousins, and I thought that maybe we should have used our subs a little wiser? Bringing Simon Martin on when 2-4 down, with only a couple of minutes left was a strange one.A couple of the Eastleigh goals were crackers though! Hopefully we can do better tomorrow night!

I too felt Saturday's game was very similar in lots of ways to the Cambridge match. Perhaps we can go on another 10 game unbeaten run similar to before, everything is possible.

Going back to last Saturday, I felt Eastleigh were definitely one of the better sides we have played this season and they fully deseved their win although, in saying that, all of their goals seemed to be more down to our slackness or lack of concentration at the back rather than their enterprising play and you have to say the strike for their 2nd goal could have gone anywhere. Our midfield, apart from Matt Hann (who was superb in the first half) struggled as well, which did nothing to alleviate the pressure on the defence. Tom Davis's creativity has been badly missed over the last 4 games IMO and it shows. I would also like to think Patrick will be in contention for a starting slot against Yeading.

Let's start that new unbeaten run, tomorrow night. Come on u Saints!

I think that Tom Davis is a talented player but, for whatever reason, we have only seen glimpses of his talent this season in my view. In addition, we can't play both Mark Graham and Matt Hann on the right. Mark does better than I would do playing on the left, but it's obvious that its not his preferred side.

It's an interesting thought that the squad today is bigger [in number] than it's been all season.

Oh, by the way. I think that you are being unfair on Bowers for their second goal, Nos. About 90 seconds earlier, he hit one with the same velocity and on the same trajectory from virtually the same spot, but Paul Bastock was further out from his line and made a magnificent block.

For me, I'm not interested in promotion in the slightest. Let's just get back to playing football.
