Enfield Town 2 Potters Bar Town 0

lovely stuff

Recommended Posts

Fair result. We were not at our best. I thought we did well at breaking down Enfield Town's game but at a cost to our own attacking ambitions. We conceded a stupid penalty for the first and the referee bought the dive for the free kick and the second goal, although our defensive wall completely disintegrated.

Incidentally, Ben Hill (not Benny Hill as Pat the prat announced) has a suspected dislocated ankle but we are awaiting confirmation from Chase Farm Hospital.

Gate 294

Well the early pressure came from Potters Bar and Chopper was forced to save. Eventually Town managed to get on the attack and Trevor Paul had a shot skimmed along the ground just wide. Paul Campbell headed over.

Chopper was brought down with two players falling on top of him and looked to be spark out but after the ref allowed him time to recover he saw the match out. Rudi Hall shot just wide and then minutes later shot a free kick over the bar. A lovely run by Bryan Hammatt was passed to Steve Baldwin who had a shot saved. Towns best chance of the First half fell to Trevor Paul who in a one on one with Fitkin found him successfully block with his feet. Just before half time a seemingly minor tackle left Ben Hill the number 11 for Potters Bar with a suspected dislocated ankle.

Second half A Bryan Hammatt run and pass to Kieron Woodward saw a shot caught by the keeper. Minutes later a Kieron Woodward headed just wide from a David Allen cross. Chopper made a punch save only to find a shot returned with interest which he gathered on the second occasion. Finally the skill of Bryan Hammatt finally paid of after duping a defender into a foul in the box had the referee pointing to the spot. Rudi Hall stepped up. He shot and it was saved but Rudi followed up so fast on the rebound that the second shot went in. 61 minutes and 1 – 0. Town fans erupted with relief at the eventual breakthrough. David Allen was subbed by Johnny Morgan. A fiery shot from Russell Penn was blocked by Winger. Russell Penn and Graeme Hall subbed by Steve Magona (former Cheshunt player) and Bradley Brotherton. On 81 minutes Town won a free-kick and Johnny Morgan took it sending a ball skimming along the ground past Fitkin and into the net 2- 0. The Competition from Woodward for his place appears to have put a fire in Morgan’s belly with this well taken goal. Adam Gant and Paul Campbell were tackling back well. This was an encouraging win after Potters Bar came to frustrate and attempt to throw us off our game plan.

Well Vodafone on their recent advert said a game normally has 60 minutes of football and 30 minutes of officiating. With this referee you probably had to swap these numbers around. 30 minutes of football and 60 minutes of chat. Nothing wrong with the decisions particularly just the verbal diarrhoea.

Just what was happening at half time to warrant supporters from all corners of the ground rushing to their legally parked cars?

Everyone in Goldsdown road who had a wheel in the pavement got tickets. They were just about to start towing all the cars away, when the tannoy announcement came over, and all the cars owners managed to move them just in time.(thanks to the person who allerted the fans).

I'm afraid it's all down to the 'anti-car/money-grabbing Enfield council'.Parking tickets have increased ten fold in the last year in the borough.Enfield council feel they are justified in employing hundreds of private traffic wardens,in order to victimise the boroughs motorists. The 4.25 million they rake in in parking fines each year, plugs the gap in their annual budget shortfall.

Motorists in narrow roads have always parked half-on-the-curb,in order for other road users to pass freely. This is now a capital offence in Enfield.I have had 3 tickets in the last month for parking as normal in my street.

The only way this money grabbing council will understand how pathetic they are, is for the residents of Enfield to park 'legally' on the road.Lets see how many council dust carts and ambulances can access the boroughs roads. I know one thing for sure no council dust cart or lorry will ever be able to access my road again, because myself and my fellow residents will be blocking the road (by parking fully on the road),until the council stop this crazy policy.

My wife got a parking ticket outside our house one Saturday morning. She had just got back from Tescos, opened up the boot and started to take in the shopping. The phone rang, she answered it and then went back to the car, with its boot still open.

Found one ticket and no traffic warden!

Was I cross?

Yeah I live in Cheshunt and it's the same in my street but how many wing mirrors would you loose in the process,? an you'd never catch em at the time or you'd have to be very lucky.

I bet if the dustcart did hit one of your cars they wouldnt stop to tell you or apologise or even leave a note on your windscreen with their details.

Why not also ask Enfield Council why they shut off a lane on the A10 last week (Causing great fun as it was the filter lane into Bullsmore lane), just to sweep leaves off the Road.
Must make you so proud of your Council???.

Just been down that way.The roundabout at Jun 25/A10 is chaos again.REASON.They shut down the inside lane and the bullsmoor filter in order to paint to railings at the side of the road.

First of all, surely its possible to piant the railings from behind them. (just reach through)Secondly,if not, why decide to paint them in the rush hour????
