Shame as he looked like he has the ability from the little we've seen of him. Probably needed a bit of a run out to bring out that ability though. I think I would prefer him up front to Drury. I hope Charlton don't decide they want Sodje back any time soon or we'll be left a bit lightweight up front.

True Harry, things change pretty quickly.

Sodje looked top quality four weeks ago but couldn't make the starting lineup on Saturday, is he off the boil or is he not getting the service?

Essandoh looked like a worldbeater when we attacked down the wings and gave him crosses to attack but the goals dried up when we resorted to the long ball game.

We haven't scored for three games so it must be the forwards fault.

Think Liam needs to get some forwards in ASAP.

This comment looks familiar????

I believe I said something along these lines, and got severly criticised, before the season started.

As has been said by many others on other threads, the 'Fleets squad contains too many 'ordinary' players. This has been highlighted by the teams poor performances recently when first choice players are out either injured or suspended. Unfortunatley, in my view, Kim Grant falls into that category. He was never going to be a first choice in the team when he has played, apart from perhaps against Charlton in what was a friendly against an old club, he has looked distinctly 'average'.

Hopefully he will be replaced by someone who can cope with the long-ball game that the club now seem to be playing.

The difference being that you said it when we only had one forward and one injured and yet to commit to a contract, which was fair comment. Mikefleet said it when we had four (if you include Drury).

Point taken. But surely it doesn't really matter who said what and when.

The situation is still the same. The club desperatly needs a striker or strikers who can cope with the big boot down the middle and begin to create and capitalize on goalscoring chances.

Or we just stop playing the long ball game?

It always happens, when the club starts to go through a 'sticky' patch they resort to defenders 'hoofing' the ball down the middle. It doesn't appear to occur to them that most of the forwards the club have are dwarfed by towering defenders of opposing clubs.

Yes playing the ball along the ground would be an option. But if the last few games are anything to go by, despite Daish's comments about playing along the ground, we look as though the big boot down the middle is here to stay, unfortunately.

We might as well, therefore, at least try to sign a striker (or 2) who can play to that gameplan.
