Joe Baker - Extract from Non League Paper website

In an article about Aylesbury signing Chris Day on loan from QPR it says......'Meanwhile, highly-rated wide player, Joe Baker, has joined the Ducks on a permanent deal, part the way through a second month on loan.

Baker moves from fellow Premier Division side, Billericay Town, where he has made little impact.'

What a bloody shame. Probably the best/most exciting player I've seen wearing the blue & white.

an utter disgrace. playrers like joe dont come round often. prob the best player ive ever seen at new lodge. i hope he comes back to haunt calder, who after all is to blame for his departure (i stand near the dugout and some of the things said to joe are just compleetly out of order). Good luck joe

I would agree with the thought that maybe the man management of some players needs to be worked on but this is football and not a nice cozy office in which I work in.

Things are different but sorry, Joe wasn't the shining light last season that he was when he first joined. He was a good player, playing with a team that was mostly made up of average players. We now have a team of above average and more and he struggled. Yes, as I've said, some things were said from the bench which made me cringe but he really didn't seem to want to play for us anymore. Whether this was down to the management style or himself, who knows. He is going and I wish him well.

I wouldn't get too upset - by the sounds of it you've got plenty of players to replace Baker.

He's done well for us so far (despite drifting in and out of every game he's played) and got a couple of goals, but although he's on better form than he seems he was for you last season, he's still not back to his best yet.

How can I tell this? I was at New Lodge when you beat us 5-0 three years ago and essentially condemed us to relegation. Joe Baker was the catalyst for you that day, scoring one and creating another three, looking like a player who was easily good enough for the Conference and ripping our makeshift defence to ribbons. So I've seen him at his best, and he's not there.

Yet.

See you on the 28th December!

Looks like Non League Paper web site were a bit premature in reporting the permanent departure of Joe!!

Here is the report as in the Gazette,by Robert Moore , Thursday Oct 24 2002

Away from saturdays game it must be noted that, despite reports in a paper at

the weekend, Joe Baker has not signed a permanent deal with Aylesbury United

and remains there on loan.

Reports suggested that Joe had left New Lodge in favour of a move to

Buckingham Road where he has spent the last 6 weeks, but at the time of

writing he is still a Billericay player who can be called back by the club at

any time.

Hmmm, be nice if someone in this town could get the facts right.

Is this another victim of the Billericay gossip? What with everything said about The New Ground, I will take everything I read now with a large pinch of salt.

Be nice if the club appointed someone to come onto this site and make things clear.

Perhaps we should remember who Robert Moore is and his relation to the team, obviously he should be in a good position to know the details re JB <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/argue.gif" alt="" />
