To tell the truth, I felt he was a little unlucky to be dismissed, since his handball for the second booking wasn't really in a dangerous position. Still, I suppose it may have come under persistent offending.

Since only 'deliberate' handballs are penalized, why doesn't every player who concedes a free kick for handling the ball get booked then?

P.S. The first booking did indeed appear to be for dissent.

I'm not actually sure about the rule, but when i say deliberate I mean when it's not debatable.

He did it earlier in the second half during a tussle with one of our players, he fell over and then picked the ball up so the ref had no option other than to give him the free kick, or penalise him. On that occasion he got the free kick. Second time around he wasn't so lucky.

On his first booking he stuck his head in Charlies face, it wasn't a head butt but it was a stupid thing to do and definately worth a yellow. On his second, although it was in the corner, having slipped over he was beaten and the ball would have gone back into the middle if he hadn't knocked it away with his hand. It was a deliberate hand ball and had to be at least a yellow but could have been a red on its own.
Presumably the stretcher was due to chipped nail varnish which occurred while knocking the ball away.

Not true, did you not hear him say to the pysio "my heads hurting from thinking what body part I could pretend to hurt next, I seem to have injured all of them already"

Both players just seemed to put their heads together with little 'movement' for the first one, so the yellow could have been for that or dissent. As for the second one, I take your point - Jacko probably would have been able to swing a cross in had Maamria not handled it. That said, a straight red was out of the question, since he wasn't denying a clear goalscoring opportunity by handling it in that position.

And Stu - I must confess I didn't see that. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

Er, I didn't say that, actually. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
