A prior engagement, was it? Leaving before the end is one of those footballing conventions that's always baffled me.

As I said. I have always stayed till the end, I stayed right to the end. Some examples: when we played colchester, and then when we drew at home with York, as you may well remember, most people were walking out at about 70 mins. I walked out due to my frustation. What would you rather me do, stand there and rant at the players. I needed to walk away, as abusing the players is not on. this was a leasson hard learnt.

So what your saying is that I should have stayed at home and thought "Oh well, its Stevenage. They are going to thrash us, so whats the point of going." Well I actually believed we could draw or win, that was before kick off. When we went 1-0 down, I thought "We can come back from this and at least draw". At the start of the second half, it seemed as if the team had conceeded itself to a loss. And this was confirmed when the second goal went in. So I tell you what Harry, when we play anyone above us in the league, shall we just tell people not to go, as they are above us, so we will lose. Because I swear York thought that, and we held them to a draw.

And now it's official! We have the worst defence in the league,as stated in our programme, and that was before yesterday.

It was actually the worst Goalkeeping ratio, not worst defence.

Thought we were good first half, but not so good second half. Defence was ok, could have been better if Proths and Skins were playing, but they weren't, so let's not dwell on it, we have to look forward to Aldershot now.
Maamria's sending off has to be the funniest sending off I've seen in a while. I cracked up!

As it matched your prediction league post, you should be pleased Slarti

I would have been more pleased to be wrong.

I was working on the old 'If I predict a loss we are bound to stuff the b*st*rds' theory but I couldn't even get that right.

You saw from their second goal what quality they have. They turned up today to do a job on us. That second goal was quality, they picked us off and decided to score when they wanted to and that was it.

Whilst I accept that the finishing on Stevenage's second goal was superb. The reason the goal came about was as a direct result of Macarthy trying, but being too slow, to take out Nurse and getting himself caught out of position. Not for the first time I might add.

That said it was a reasonable first half performance, certainly better than the Kettering game. Second half performance was inept.

Bizarre substitutions, why on earth take off Drury when he had been one of the few Fleet players who could take some credit from this game.

The most worrying thing to come out of this game was the overall performance against what I think was probably the poorest Stevenage side to play at Stonebridge Road for some time (even Maamria did little until his sending-off). Despite three excellent saves by their 'keeper the Fleet did not look like they were going to pull back one goal, let alone two.

There are too many average players in the squad.

Everyone very unhappy eh !

Lots of people have now joined the "Daish Out" club it seems.

I went hope totally depressed, not so much by the result, which to be honest went true to the form book (Stevenage are "real" promotion challengers, and looked it), but by the way in which we played.

It's all very simple to me, if you want to play the long ball game, you play with a big lump up front, and not the small ball playing forwards that we have....... or you play a passing game where the midfield actually get involved and don't spend the whole game getting a stiff neck, watching balls launched from defence over their heads to our forwards.

But hey, what do I know !

We are a mid-table team at best and should be able to finish in that area, provided we utilise the players in the squad properly.

So Liam, if you want to tell the boys at the back to hump the ball forward rather than pass it through midfield, please recruit a monster centre forward.

He's played 75 minutes in the reserves at Redbridge, so he's nearing full fitness, it would seem.

75 minutes against the reserve side of a team bottom of the Ryman Premier is hardly an indication of fitness.

The trouble is, the team need him fit and so he will probably be rushed back too soon and end up injured again as a result.

Congratulations WVN and RR.....three losses in a row and its the return of the Daish out club as predicted.

The problem is I find myself agreeing with a lot of RR's post, certainly on the style of play and on the mid table at best comment.

Although anyone who expects more than that this season is being unrealistic and mid table isn't such a bad thing.

The long ball game was all the more annoying for the fact that we only have two players who can play a decent long ball (i.e. flat rather than up and under) and they are Jacko and Proths, why was Proths on the bench on Saturday?

Isn't it good that he made it through 75 minutes of football? look at the positives, if he hadn't been at least half way fit, he wouldn't have played, so it does give some indication of his fitness.

As previously mentioned, one suspects that McCarthy may not have been 100% fit after his absence last week.

Exactly - that's why I said 'nearing full fitness'.
