I was a bit gutted when their second goal went in, as I didn't think we deserved to be 2-0 down - but you can't legislate for that kind of effort. Goal of the season contender. Great fight-back though - I thought the team showed great character and determination.

 

Although 4-4-2 worked against Redbridge, I think we saw yesterday that we're a 5-3-2/3-5-2 team. When Ballard moved back into defence, it allowed Carbon and Woodruffe more opportunities to get forward. I think in the first half there were a few examples of confusion over who should be doing what on both flanks, with one example I can think of being Hodges and Mason. With the two wing-backs we have out-and-out wide players. If the game had gone on a little longer, we may have snatched it. We ended both halves well and generally had the better of the game - if only one of those chances that went just past the post, had crept in instead.

 

I personally thought Hodges had an off-day, Brooks looked great in the first half but probably tired in the second. Mark Avery had one of his better games - hopefully he now has a bit more confidence in his ability, although the defence as a whole is still a worry. And Mark West rolled back the years with that chipped effort - superb.

 

Hendon at home is a must-win game I feel.

just watched the hihglights, looked like we had a decent game, some very good chances, probably should have scored long before but a good draw.

A draw that most definately felt like a win but strangely coming in a game that we largely dominated and could have won comfortably. Both our goals were excellent in their own ways and there second was a screamer and clearly not Mavis' fault.

 

It would have been worth losing just for Westy's goal. What a legend that bloke is. Who would have thought after 1998 that we would ever see him score a first team goal again. And what a belter.

 

Our equaliser was great - I was moaning at the ref for calling back Ballard's quick throw, the Hodge blatantly fouled 15 who looped it over the miserable short [****!!****] in goal brilliantly. In fairness to 15 he did not complain about the goal at all but he did seem to be admiring the finish.

 

Next Saturday is very important now - come on you Rebels.

Mark Foran was quality, best defensive slough player I've seen in last 15 years.
