No Micheal a keeper handling outside the box is a yellow card offense . You can only be sent off in them circumstance's for denying a goal scoring opportunity. Which obviously me an you can not comment on.

Correct. End of subject. Can we not blame this decision for the defeat as it was the correct decision unless a Margate player was denied a clear goalscoring opportunity.

How about refereeing for me in the morning Porka?

I can assure any one out there that plays under my supervision that I would dismiss them from the field of play without hesitation.

You are correct though Porka by saying we shouldnt blame this incident on our defeat but I didnt think we were. I thought we were just trying to get the law correct in its entirety.

I shall have this checked out as a matter of urgency seeing as though I will/may come across this in the future.

Then you would be wrong Tony, Handball is only a red card offence if it denies a clear goalscoring opportunity regardless of the player.

Better brush up on your directives <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I beg to differ David, sorry. But I WILL enquire just for confirmation. I think you will find that denying a goalscoring opportunity only comes into play when there is a FOUL commited on way to goal. I think you are confusing that with that of DELIBERATE HANDBALL.An entirely different offence.

The ref was totally useless today. He let blatant infringements go, booked players for fair tackles, spent long periods talking to people (including both managers at different times) and caused the match to descend into ill discipline at the end. About the only thing that wasn’t completely wrong was his yellow for the goalie handling outside the area, because it was at the side near the goal line and didn’t prevent a certain goal (that rule was discussed during the week regarding the ManU-Barnet match, the verdict being that the ref was wrong to send the keeper off).

Margate looked equal to Braintree, even when playing with 10 men. With both playing 5 in midfield it looked a bit crowded. Margate had more shots on target (approx 4), but Braintree gave us two let-offs towards the end. The difference was obviously the penalty decision against Sesay (someone else said Keister), which looked harsh.

Deen’s sending off should have been a booking for the over-the-top tackle, but if words were said as suggested above that might explain it. Funny, Keister did exactly the same thing a couple of minutes later and wasn’t even spoken to.

We started with Oates on the right and Sesay on the left, which would have been interesting except that Oates was subbed near the start and Sesay reverted to the right for the rest of the match.

Oates was blatantly upended (no whistle) and fell awkwardly, injuring his wrist or arm. Until that moment he had made some good runs.

Donovan was excellent at the back with good defensive blocks and no fouls conceded. Came forward for corners and had a very good effort tipped over in the second half. Looked fitter than when last he played.

Bill Edwards had a very good match, getting us out of trouble a number of times. Came up to the opposing area towards the end and was denied a good header which I am sure would have flown into the top corner.

Sesay played well and made some good runs and defensive tackles. No way should he have been booked; also the opinion of Braintree fans I talked to.

Warren Ryan made some excellent runs playing more centrally than usual. Had a good effort palmed wide in the second half.

Bertie looks very classy at this level. Hope we keep him as he will be a future match winner. Looked better as link man than when he had to play up front after Remy was brought off.

Standen makes good defensive blocks and distributes the ball well. He supported the forwards and had a rocket shot blocked. He always looks up before playing the ball forwards. Some people on here are too harsh on him IMO. Gets involved too much, and should have been at least booked after he flew at the bloke who fouled Bill.

Our forwards didn’t get enough of the ball to look threatening, which is demonstrated by our best chances coming from Ryan (twice) and Donovan.

OK,this red or yellow card thing. Is a keeper sent off for handball. If a keeper handballs outside his area it has to be denying a goal scoring chance,if not WHY would any keeper handball outside his area.

Not necessarily. I have seen keepers misjudge the edge of the area while holding the ball.

[color:"blue"]Re: handball .. I was the other side of the goal so didn't see it clearly, but others closer told me the keeper was struggling to control the ball at the edge of the area close to the goaline, he fumbled it and it went outside the area, he then picked it up to deny an incoming player from getting it. - You decide.

Without the penalty Braintree would not have scored even if you had made the goal twice the size and played all day.

Shocking refereeing. The game was not allowed to flow at all, and it ruined it for both sides. Otherwise the teams were pretty evenly matched and we could have had a game worth watching. As it was, it was a bit of a frustrating joke. This gave no credit to either side, and particularly none to the officials.

The goalkeeper caught the ball, and then fell on it, outside his area, just by the corner of the penalty area and the back line, when being approached at speed by Adolph, and another Braintree guy trying to block him. Adolph is so tricky you can see why oppositions throw everything they can at him.

There were a few irritating juveniles there who seemed to think it was good fun to spend the day goading away fans, even if aforesaid fans had gone out of their way to be pleasant to them. I see one has found its way on here too.

I cannot see why Hasim was sent off, the two Braintree guys that surrounded him after the tackle and raised their arms to him were not penalised at all. Likewise, I could not see why Warren should get yellow carded for being punched, but then, hey, what do I know, or perhaps my eyes deceived me?

Greg looked as if he had an injury to his arm/shoulder. It was a pity because he was playing really well. Sesay is better on the right, he was not in the best position on the left at first. Standen was very good today, but I wish he would not rush in on every fracas, as he puts himself in the way of dubious officials. Warren Ryan made some outstanding runs, and you could see that the other side thought he was a danger, as they were doing everything to try and neutralise him. Hasim had played really well until he got sent off. Bertie was very inventive in the midfield, when he settles in he will be more and more influential, I think. Remy got pushed and shoved all over the place, but kept his cool and ran and ran for everything. Bill was fantastic at the back, my he is playing well this season. I was very happy to see Gavin McGowan there, and used today.

Horrible congestion and delay getting home was just the icing on the cake.

The ref was indeed very poor, and lost control of the game, but your players didn't help your cause.

your player did deserve red a bad over the top tackle, taking the Braintree player just below his knee.

The handball by the keeper was him sliding out of the area and losing control, did not stop a goal scoring chance as he was out by the by line.

Also your no 8, also went over the top on the incident that caused the bookings.

All in all you could have had more sent off, your no 7 was booked ealry and then continued to foul, and first half your 8 made a horrendous tackle that went unpunished as the ref let advantage continue and then didn't go back to the player.

2 of the Braintree bookings were for retaliation.

Why was Bertie Brayley playing at left back for you ?

Much better up front or just behind.

The one time I have seen Brayley I was impressed with his skill and movement.Thought at the time we had a tremendous asset.Alas he went back to Grays but surely he is a must for the attacking wing position.Whilst I havent witnessed his skills at full back I am sure in my own mind that with his extraordinary skills for this league he would better used up front. Its not his decision I presume to play at the back so its not down to him. Please CK use the guy to his fullest..up front.Maybe we can score goals with him up there.

Cookie he was wearing 3 but never went near left back. Was attacking midfield, more left than right most of the game. Linked well with the forwards, but as they were closed down well he found himself in forward positions quite a lot. Towards the end Remy was subbed by McGowan and Brayley was asked to play up front with Amoako. To start with he told Amoako to play right, but Adolph kept drifting left so in the end Brayley was the right sided forward.

CK seems to play the shirt numbers game a lot. Perhaps it confuses some opponents. For example, at the start Oates wore 5 at right wing back and Sesay 2 at left wing back (although he went to the right after Oates was subbed).
