Matchday Poster - pick 1 up tomorrow

Recommended Posts

. . . will be available at tomorrow's game.

Please make an effort to take 1 (or more if you can) and get permission to put them up at work, the pub, schools, leisure centres, in fact anywhere!

They will hopefully be available just next to the Programme Hut (weather permitting) by the main gates from 1.30'ish, else I'll leave a batch in the Club Shop as long as Jimmy doesn't mind.

For those that can't wait a preview can be seen at:

If there is anything wrong with them please don't tell me unless its something major, as its too late to get things changed!

As up Fleet has said else where it is pathetic they way kids pick them up and throw them around as if they are a toy. We should have had nazi style distributors handing them out.

"Zif you vant to take one zou may, but zou must display them zin a public place."

Now they are all gone and how many will be displayed? And how many in peoples bedrooms?

McColls in Riverview park won't display one as they say they are too large but Valley Fish down on Valley Drive near the KFC is now the proud owner of one.

I took one for my office canteen. However I do need to check if a) there is an area to put it up, and B) if it will be allowed! I will check on Monday and report back. There is a large target audience where I work, but it is in Rochester so I not sure if it will be successful (I know a large number of the footy fans around the office are Gillingham or Premiership club supporters).

I thought the size of the poster might also factor too. It is a little on the large side (sorry).

Thanks everyone for the feedback. All points noted. To address a couple points:

a) Size of Poster. A2 was chosen for reasons of impact i.e. getting the Club noticed. The flip-side of this is that some places may not display them as they are to big - as has been pointed out.

In future, we can stick to the smaller A3 size. This suits me fine, as they are much cheaper to get printed than the larger posters produced this time.

B) The Club have indicated they will try to get as many round local schools when they make their visits, as part of the £50,000 ticket giveway.

About 250-300 were taken on the day. Of course, its going to take more than a few posters and flyers to get new people down to the ground but its a step in the right direction . . .

 • 1 month later...

The Landlord Of the the Battle of Britain pub kindly allowed me to place a poster in each of his bars. Then the club changes the times of the kick offs But thankfully a unamed person seems to have discovered the location of the posters and stuck a corrective label on, pheew. But as there are no control to whom posters went to, there could be a number of disappointed people on Boxing day turning up at 3.0 pm to watch a already played soccer match. The poster idea is great but changing times etc??? can we not do one thing at a time, looks like bad organisation

Hi BustaGut

There's a "degree of control" with the posters in the sense that approximately 65 pubs in Gravesend, Northfleet, Meopham, Swanscombe and Greenhithe have agreed to display and get sent posters. If the fixtures change they get sent a "miniture" poster advising them of the change - which is what happened this time.

In some cases posters never got sent out to pubs as when they were phoned - some fans like yourself had already got them put up. However, there was still a need to send out a miniture poster advising of the Boxing Day Change to the Battle of Britain.

As you say once they go out to the masses there is no real control if fixtures subsequently get changed by the Club. I know, for a fact the new Chief Executive is looking into getting adverts promoting the "Next fixture(s)" in the local press but this takes time to organise and may be expensive. Such adverts could then advise of any fixture changes.

New posters should be available at the Crawley Game. Cheers.

 • 2 weeks later...

Talking about the shop (I am sure it's been bought up before but...) are there any Football managers in at the moment.... I am hoping to get one at the Crawley game tomorow (maybe Jim Jimmy or Jessica may know?).

Also, a few weeks ago my brother won a replica shirt in the schools raffle and me being the responsible one took 'the winning ticket' and I think I've lost it... I will have another look, would you be able to give it to me without it or not (my brother is coming tomorrow because he got another free ticket, and he (unfortunately for me) is hoping on coming a regular and he's only 9!

Anyway I will leave you with that and hope I get a response before the game tomorrow!

Cheers

Jim Jimmy?

That's a new one tongue

Like Gene Genie?

Football Manager's are available for a tenner.

Probably not regarding the shirt as we'd need the actual ticket to take the place of cash.

Maybe speak to them and they might be able to give you another ticket as surely they keep records?
