Slough Observer

According to the Midweek Observer Eddie will comment on the criticism he received on this forum in today’s Observer. Ridiculous messages were posted after the Chelmsford game asking for Eddie to 'answer the fans' directly on the forum (no doubt these same people were the first to go and watch Burnham instead of witnessing the team

answer the critics at Redbridge)

So I hope the fans that wanted answers are now happy! We will have yet more negative press that will give the impression that relations between Eddie and the fans are wearing thin.

In last weeks Observer Eddie explained what he thought the problems were and what he was doing to sort them out. I am not looking forward to reading todays paper. I won’t blame Eddie if he has a few harsh words for the fans. Unfortunately the damage has been done and because of the minority, the majority will be tarred with he same brush.

I hope Eddie comes out on the offensive and doesn't apologise for something he doesn't need to apologise for.

I will be at Northwood on Saturday, if the same people are still not happy and still demand answers Burnham are away at Taunton, have a nice trip!

Spot on, Dom. I know there were some people who couldn't make it on Tuesday for legitimate reasons but I felt that the reaction by the players at the end towards us showed they know there are some supporters that are still behind them.

Perhaps not CK, but then we lost to relegation certainties Kingstonian last season with a supposedly much better team.

You more than most appreciated earlier this season that we'd struggle this year, so I thought you'd be more understanding of the situation than most.

As for Eddie not acknowledging the fans, I would have thought it was a bit harsh. Those who travelled were the ones, in the main part, not having a go at the team? The supporters made a big effort to get to Redbridge on a Tuesday following a poor showing the Saturday before, so deserve the appreciation from the players as the support, considering the smaller numbers that did travel, was pretty good.

It's football. One minute your the best thing since sliced bread according to supporters, the next week you are certainties for relegation. That's certainally the case with many Slough fans.

I don't think it was a case of everyone 'turning' to Burnham. I personally would have gone to Essex if I did not have Uni on Tue night, but can understand why people did not want to travel to Essex on a Tuesday given our record there, and Saturday's performance.

Lets hope we have lots of numbers there tomorrow as we normally do when we go to Northwood.

hes got nothing to answer for, its the players who are letting us all down when they play badly, but as long as they come back with a decent response like on tuesday its not so bad.

i will be about 2 miles away from northwood (i think) on saturday camping at choreywood house, maybe if i shout loud enough youll hear...will have slough shirt with me though!

I'm starting to get sick and tired of the imbecilic drivel and two face opinions on this forum. We're constantly told we can't criticise any of the players because it would hurt their fragile egos. Well, if they can't take it, why don't they just go to another club where they will be raised on pedestals, immune from the nasty words of those people who pay their wages? Because if they played badly for a new team they'd get the same behaviour from their new fans.

And then there is the gaffer. If anyone who was in charge of a division of a business, no matter how small or large, and that business wasn't performing he'd be called accountable. Unfortunately some people think that our gaffer is some sort of tactical and motivational genius and so he can't be called upon to account for his performance.

And as far as chewing out fans for merely wanting answers, telling them to stay away is a really fantastic way of keeping our fan base from eroding further.

Rant over.

I am half way between the two "camps." We as supporters pay our money and are entitled to our opinion and are entitled to express on match day and on the fans forum. All I would say is that the response to team performances has to be tempered by your expectations for this season.

I predicted we would struggle this year so I was not wailing or knashing my teeth overly about the result on Saturday. I thought it was a very poor performance and I was concerned about the tactics and the substitutions. I expressed that on the day. Equally I was not jumping for joy after Tuesday - a game that was almost a guaranteed three points - but I was happy to praise the team for getting the result.

I also happen to think that the Slough Observer should not whip up a negative story about the club based on the comments made on this forum. If I wanted the newspaper to publish my views on the football club I would write to them or post on the thisisslough forum (not that I was one of those quoted).

Agree totally. I understand it has happened for the past few weeks which is interesting as buying the paper today, it gives all the quotes as 'www.sloughtownfc.net' which is incorrect and gives the wrong impression of the main site. Whilst this is linked from the main site, I still treat it as a standalone board and I think a holding page between the two will have to come into effect to re-inforce this.

Football fans like to moan, it's in the blood, and it's everyones right.

Last year we were looking forward to Walsall, this year we are looking forward to ...er

We haven't got a home, we haven't got any money, its a bloody miracle we are still going.

But football isn't a business - Liam, would you walk 60 miles to raise cash for your place of work?

Despite the results, i'm still having a laugh, if your not i suggest everyone drink more before the games.
