saw this clip on sky sports, and sure enough it's featured on the guardian's the knowledge section.

this is probably closer to what pires/henry planned.

the funniest thing in this clip isn't the penalty itself, rather the referee. look at the emphatic flourish when he both points to the spot and awards the goal.

argyle 3 manchester city 2 - 21st november 1964 division 2

bonus point if anyone can tell me what the offence was that led to the penalty being awarded as i cannot for the life of me see.

my dad remembered it and back then people were saying how great it was but it wasn't succesful again(although tried) until cruyff done it

amazing that when someone like plymouth do it its "great" and when a couple of french blokes do it it is "disrespectful"

bloody racists in this country we are

That's hilarious, the keeper nearly made the ball before he hit it. Please, all Urchin players watching, ignore this trick, it's neither big nor clever. The way to truly impress fans laugh is to hit a penalty hard into the back of the net, without the keeper touching the ball, winning the FA Vase at Wembley in 2006. That would be very big and very clever.
