Are the lines men instructed not to contradict the ref?, are they scared of the refs reaction? or just robots who patrol the line?. So many times last night the lino's kept quiet as the ref blunderd. there was an incident bettween the lino and francis duku. it took place as the ref was trying to sort out the griffiths assault on smith. Duku walked towards the lino and just let go with a full load of verbal abuse, this carried on for at least 2 or perhaps 3 minutes. The lino's reaction was to ignore it. This was a lino who had a full view of the assault on our player, his imput would definatly have sent Griffiths off. Duku had already had a warning for bad language which under the new rules could have seen him off the field. This verbal attack on the match official was perhaps a successful attempt to divert the officials attention from the other incident,if so it worked. If any gate player had behaved as badly then i hope it would be dealt with. I am also certain that if there had been a on duty police officer in the ground then mr griffiths would have been in trouble. There is no place in the game for such acts. Keep it amongst the low ranking pugalists who perform in the cage on Men and Motors.

I couldn't agree more Blueblood the ref and the taller of the 2 lino's were an absolute disgrace. If you can stamp on someone and throw at least 2 punches and still be on the pitch then something is seriously wrong.

On lighter news a great performance by the gate, if not for lack of finishing and a good bit of goalkeeping we would surely have walked away with 3 points

I am still fuming from last night's officiating. We were robbed by terrible officials. If they cannot do a good job, they should simply not be in charge of a match. Griffiths should have been sent off AND it was never a penalty AND the linesmen (sorry, 'referee's assistants') didn't know the offside rule. An absolute disgrace.

I wouldnt have liked to be in charge of that game last night. I think referees have a really difficult job they are expected to get so many decisions right and even if they do people still slag them off.

Its better to focus on what was a really good performance by the gate.

And if you want to know a bit more about why refs make mistakes try it yourself...

Sorry to disagree with some, but I don't think we should be complaining about the penalty decision. We had been desperately blocking shots for quite a few seconds when the ball broke to their man (I think it was Watts) on the right side of the box. He controlled the ball well and was about to shoot when Keister gave him an enormous shove in the back. Charlie was still recovering after a dive to save the previous shot, and JK couldn't get goalside to block so it was about all he could do. Still a penalty though.

Interesting that 2 games in a row supporters feel that ref and linesman let them down. The ref on saturday didn't really consult his linesman about the goal as such. He admitted that he spoke to his linesman and said "that was a perfectly good goal - what do you think?" or words to that effect. He wouldn't accept afterwards that he influenced the linesman by speaking in this fashion.

You may or may not be interested to hear that Wealdstone's manager was sent off on Saturday and it was his first sending off in 21 years of management. What was he sent off for? Verbals? No! He was sent off for "leaving his technical area in a threatening fashion" whatever that means.

Is there a ground or forum somewhere out there where the conversation goes:

"Thought the ref was great today. No bad decisions went against us"

"Very true. He was dead right to send our man off and disallow our goals"

"Lino was good too; 10 offsides against us and every one of them an inch-perfect decision"

"Makes losing so much easier to bear, doesn't it"

...etc?

I heard him say "come on lads come away,he knows he got it wrong". Blatant intimidation to the ref

who was standing only about 5 feet away.

Sarcasm, intimidation, call it what you like but I was incensed with it and duly called for his dismissal. However it wasnt until shortly afterwards that he did get the sending off though,so something else must have been said,or as others say he got his marching orders for leaving his pen. Dont know for sure but maybe he didnt co-operate with the referees warnings to go away.

He tried to intimidate the ref at the same time as calling for a retreat by his players. He was playing the game. He knew full well that the ref would overhear those remarks though calling for his players to come away at the same time was his way of trying to do both good & bad together, hoping that his plea to his players would have his other words about the refs decision exonerate him. That, with the ref in close proximity to hear it was just the same as Rooney or Beckham applauding the referees decision to his face. Not much difference & carries the same penalty.Good on the ref for not falling for it & not ignoring it.

Get ready for more of the same (and probably worse) on Saturday - we face a manager who is well known for being a psycho.

If you've not met Mr Borg previously then you are in for a real treat. For entertainment, I'd recommend standing within earshot of him. Better still, a few 'gate remarks should get him going and provoke his stage show. Of course, he's more likely to explode if Margate are winning.

For those who like to bait (not me of course) Mr Borg is perfect material as he refuses to walk away and ignore - he just has to respond.

Good luck Saturday. Braintree 0 Margate lots, would be good to hear.
