Time to move on...............?

I think we need to be a bit careful here not to let the actions of a few idiots from Wealdstone, who do not represent their club as a whole, turn into a huge issue. Let's face it, attention is what these people want. I think enough is enough and we should move on now.

Somewhere in amongst all this stuff, didn't we win our first gane for ages? Surely that is more worthy of comment.

I put in my post on the Ryman forum ( before JJ even got involved in his usual subtle way) that they would blame everyone else. They have. There is no way anyone is going to agree about what happened, so why keep banging on about it any more?

He climbs off soapbox..............

this is the second time weve had problems in as many home games.last time it was supposedly our own young supporters we cannot move on until something is done about the over the top stewarding.i for one will stop going to games as the enjoyment is fast dissapearing for all . ive been going for45 years and fear our club is in danger of killing itself

I am sad you feel that way. However this is maybe not the place to discuss the stewarding matter any further - MISA meetings, and maybe a specially arranged meeting would be better.

From way oop north it is clear that a few of OUR fans (forget Wealdstone) are unhappy with the stewarding. It is a sledgehammer to crack a nut issue.

I propose that some of the fans meet the stewards and thrash it out.

I still maintain that we have to be careful to:

a) not glorify the actions of the clown who started all this

B) wash our dirty linen in public

c) forget that the stewards have a job to do

I still say we move on. Meatloaf has had his say. People who were there on Saturday from both clubs have had their say. It was inevitable Wealdstone fans would blame everyone else - they always seem to.

However if OUR fans have issues arising from the incidents at the last two home games, then that is important and needs to be discussed. Surely there is time before the next home match to arrange such a discussion?

I know people will say this is a discussion forum and therefore we should discuss issues like this on here. But I will always argue that you have to draw a line somewhere and sort issues out face to face. Surely MISA can broker another meeting a this can be sorted out.

I certainly haven't "tried to blame everyone else" and neither have other wfc supporters who have bothered to register and post on your message board.

In one of my posts I stated that obviously the wfc supporter who started the whole thing off shouldn't have had a wee behind the stand. A Margate fan queried whether the chap concerned should have been refused entry to the ground as he had clearly had a few to drink. I guess my point (and I didn't see the initial incident) was that the incident would not have escalated as it did had the stewards exercised some tact and diplomacy.

The fact that a wfc supporter and his mates who were with him on a day trip to Margate tried to blag their way into the ground seems to have really upset your stewards. Personally, I find it laughable that they even attempted to pretend they were players. Rather than find this vain attempt funny your stewards took exception.

As someone who has manned a turnstile at wfc games for years I have heard hundreds of stories from people trying to blag their way in free - it happens - no need to get worked up about it though.

Same with the wfc bloke with £3k's worth of camera equipment. Where was the common sense? Pretty obvious he was there to take some decent photos of the match and, despite comments from some on this forum, I don't think that Margate have lost out on huge profits from the sale of any photos. Frankly, if we end up with one photo (particularly from an away game) in our local paper each week then we've done well. Sadly, the media aren't queuing up to purchase action shots from wfc matches.

I havent known him long but he seems a nice chap and so does his wife. He may be a bit officious but then as chief steward thats his job. Personally I would like to see a bit more common sense(with respect Ian) come into it rather than quoting the rulebook. But then again thats what he is employed to do I suppose. If people behave in the proper manner, with respect & civility but maintain the enjoyment of the game as always has been here, especially, you wont know that he or his colleagues are there during the game especially if concentration is focused on the game and not on the stewards. All this has been blown out of all proportions I feel so dont feel that this is an everyday occurrence.

Come along, enjoy the atmosphere, see our new but temporary ground and mingle with the home fans who are extremely friendly. AS are the stewards!!

Of course it was. Hence the l.o.ls. How could you take that as an insult.Lighten up please. If I have offended with that remark then I apologise as that wasnt the intent. When I saw you post "Claret" I couldnt resist after Saturdays fiasco (p.s. l.o.l. means LAUGH OUT LOUD).I am not talking "blood" but referring to "Wine". Come on take the joke as it was meant. Am trying to lighten things up a bit. Maybe I shouldnt have bothered but after understanding the jest I am sure you will see the funny side of it too in the end. Apologies again if I have erred in this instance.

I'm glad that a good number of you realise that most Stones fans are perfectly well behaved.

I must admit, had this been even just 10 years ago, then Saturday could have been a lot more serious. We would have ran a booze bus to this game (of which we did in Oct 1992 for our 2-1 win, anyone remember that?) and those well behaved middle aged chaps who were present on Saturday may well have been fairly drunk youngish men who would have probably reacted in a much more aggressive way to the stewards. I'm certain no one would have been hurt, but there would have been a lot more vocal confrontations.

But things have generally moved on at Wealdstone.
