Armchair managers.

I profess to not knowing where we are going wrong. But something is amiss, we are missing Bowry, we missed MaCarthy, and we have missed MacDonald, but this alone should not alter our style of play, the committment or the tactics.

Dare I suggest a different line up, heavens above, even playing the dreaded 3-5-2 to try and get us playing to our strengths, which we all know is a passing game played to feet.

Try this against Stevenage (assuming Jay is suspended):

Holloway

Protheroe MaCarthy Smith

Slatter Drury Bowry Surey Jackson

MacDonald Sodje

It is no good everyone saying this is a crap line up, the 4-4-2 with the personnel we have simply isn't working at present.

Can anyone offer some constructive alternatives.

I feel for Liam, he must be pulling his hair out.

No Skins then?

Surely a settled defence (up until yesterday) has been one of our major strengths so far this season?

In some respects I would be also inclined to recall Jamie Smith after his sabbatical to Margate, to add some additional pace at the back.

Time after time, both home and away we are caught for pace, only the experience and positional play of Macca helping the cause.

Lets face it, Prothers Skins and Macca are about 100 years old between them, most half decent young quick strikers will outsprint them.

Grays, York and Kettering spring immediatly to mind.

I'm happy to be persuaded of another alternative.

More importantly, we MUST play the ball out short to the midfield, having 5 will allow us the width, with Bowry doing the holding role and Jukebox and Jacko pushing forward to support the strikers

You must be the first person ever to use the words Jamie Smith and pace in the same sentance without separating them by "lack of"

Nope! He went on loan four weeks ago thursday or friday which means he comes back exactly four weeks after that day, he will be available.

We went through all this with McShane.

He went on a one month's loan on 30th September, and will therefore be available again on 30th October.

"Jamie Smith has no pace"?

Naturally you can't have a discussion without slagging someone off.

I was told that if it is a one month loan it is in fact a four week loan so the terminology is wrong.

When a player is loaned out on a Friday, in this case Friday the 30th of September he then returns not on the 30th of October but four weeks after the loan period started, so therefore this Friday.

I could obviously have it wrong, it could be that there are two different loan periods one being measured in weeks and the other being in months.

If this is the case then perhaps we had McShane for four weeks and Margate have Smith for one month.

If that is the case then that is all that needed to be said.

But no no this is the GNFC message board; it wouldn't feel right if we weren't having digs at each other.

Told me they were cleaning it up they did....

Just be grateful that Gooding will be suspended.

Seriously? I know he hasn't shone this season, yet yesterday, for the best part of the game, before his sending off, he looked a solid, reliable defender, definately one of the best headers of the ball I've seen in a long time! And the sending off, despite being fair, wasn't down to poor professionalism, just two unfortunate mistimed challenges.

Even though I think his first booking was actually for dissent, I agree to an extent. I ain't been too impressed with Goodings stints at right back so far this season and I can't remember how many goals we've conceeded after mistakes he's made. But yesterday was the best performance I've seen from him yet. Perhaps he's finding his feet. Give him a chance.
