2) We have lost good quality

3) Do not blame Eddie. First manager in xx years to win us a trophy

4) This is Slough Town. We all know what we are getting with 'communication' with our club. Lets not kid ourselves.

5) Yes we are not playing well, but we will be ok.

Apart from the fact that the players couldn't pass to each other, and that most of them just wanted to get rid of the ball as soon as they got it.

I thought that Carbon played well. He had the fire to play, attack the oppo, and tried to get the ball back when he lost it. I also thought that Alexis was ok when he came on, he was the only 'striker' to hassle the goalkeeper.

People off of the field, ie Eddie, can only do so much, if the players are frightened of making mistakes, no-one but those players can put that right. Eddie can install the belief in them, but they have to believe it themselves.

We can also help to get that belief back, by getting behind the club (Players and back room).

However badly we are peforming at the moment and I will agree that we are putting in some pretty dire performances. My understanding of supporting your club (albeit a female understanding) is that you support through the good and bad times. We've had quit a few good times over the last couple of seasons and we've all been right behind Eddie and the boys. This is the first really bad patch we've hit under his management and whilst there is nothing wrong with questioning the current form, we need to be there and give POSITIVE vocal support to them. Much as I would like to go to Burnham on Tuesday night, as Ian said we are going to Redbridge and I would hope that so will everyone else.

Firstly I have not said I want Eddie out! - all I want is what he plans to do to resolve the current situation.

The current situation being:

Going out of the FA cup in the second qualifying round to a team two levels below us

Going out of the FA trophy in the first round to a team one level below us.

Being in 17th place in the league after 12 games - only 3 wins and 2 draws.

He can do nothing about the first 2, but what are his plans for the leauge - do you realy want us going down with Windsor?

Yes we have less money available and there has been a change of players, but we have a change of players every year!

I, and I belive others would like to know what Eddie is planing to do.

A face to face meeting would only tell me, Eddie posting on here would tell a much wider group of fans.

But as another poster has said, communication is not the clubs strong point - maybe that is why the gates are slowly decreasing?

Let Eddie say what he wants in his own words so that nothing is twisted or misquoted.

Gary knows himself what happens when you talk face to face with a manager and how things get distorted - ask him about Steve Browne!

If he wishes to say nothing that is his choice.

If he engages with the fan base he is more likly to get them on his and the players side.

U cant blame Eddie Denton or any of his staff, or any of the players, this year his budget, as in every year is determined by the chairman, who so far has relegated us, made us homeless, reduced a strong fan base, potless, disrespected by most clubs because of the way we conduct business. U all have to realize if it wasn't for having a relatively large fan base this club would have gone years ago. U have to start from the top and work down thro' the administration, team and then the fans to build a strong club. I'm afraid the top is where the clubs problems are!

Not sure what more Eddie Denton can do to be honest.

Look at the resources he has to work with at the moment. Even with two key players out, it's concerning - there's very little quality on the bench IMO. Mark West is an emergency striker. We all know he's had great playing days with the club in the past, but he won't play much, or to the same level, again. Adam Paget and Ian Lovegrove are inexperienced, Bizzimana and Braith hardly ever play. The reason? They're probably not good enough for this level. Harsh but true.

I don't know what the weekly wage budget is, but it's probably not much, and can't stretch much to bring in new players just because a couple are out injured. And then there's the issue of new players taking time to settle in. Add this to the fact that the coaching staff really have to concentrate on what's going wrong on the pitch as well as possibly scouting new talent, and we can see that Eddie's hands are tied. This doesn't excuse the fact that the players can't seem to find each other with their passes, or have attempts on goal. That's a confidence thing which will only improve with goals and picking up points. There's only so much Eddie and Westy can say to the players.

As for what's happening on the field - it needed shaking up, if only to see if something new would work. Andy Ballard came to us as a midfielder, so nobody can say he was playing out of position yesterday. He wasn't. He's looked uncomfortable at centre-half this season. That's because he's not one. It's just unfortunate that Ian Hodges has to be the one to fill in at centre-half, even though he does a good job there. This leaves Matt Seedel up front, who I'm sorry to say, isn't good enough sadly.

I'll be going to Redbridge if I can make it. If not, I'll be paying Burnham a visit.

All of which are true but you've ommitted the fact that if Martyn Deaner hadn't been around for the last 7 years there would be no Slough Town Football Club at all, homeless and relegated or otherwise.

i fail to see how you can go and blame eddie for all this, he is working in EXTREMELY tough circumstances and is trying his hardest to motivate the players to play for the club.

eddie knows the game well if he signed these players then they must have a decent amount of talent, its not his fault if they fail to produce, they are the ones letting everyone down.

fair play to the loyal players who stayed and are trying their hardest to help us win the games though, theres some fantastic players in our sqaud but without a continuous level of quality (even if it isnt consistant) they cannot alone produce results which the fans approve of.

i fail to see where all this moaning is getting us, turning fans against fans and fans against players/manager/club.

we need to get behind whatever players play for the club and try our best to motivate them, if it doesnt work then im sure eddie can tell them theyve done wrong, im sure they will know.

All,

Eddie gives his account of matches to the Observer each week - and believe me I do not tip-toe around the issues - something which has got me into hot water with you guys on more than one occasion. Rest assured he will continue to outline the reasons for the club's demise each week.

As far as Eddie is concerned he has never shirked an issue raised - no matter how tough/justified the questioning.

When the club lose against, sorry 'play' Redbridge, on Tuesday his comments, together with those following Saturday's 'disgrace' will be published as normal in Friday's Observer - no stone unturned.

I would be disappointed if Eddie responded to this thread and am glad he has not. He does his newspaper interviews and that is the accepted way of communicating with the fans (and through his column in the programme). If you really want to speak to him - see him after a game but try and calm down a bit first.

I could not have spoken to him Saturday partly because I was so frustrated and partly because I thought I was going to faint again.

I perosnally think some of our fans are deluded about the standard of football they are expecting. This is the third division of non-league football and that is a division with the quality diluted as it is spread out through three regions.

Non-league football is supposed to be crap but it is all about community and that magical chance that every now and then something special happens (Walsall). Just remember that this still isn't as bad as losing 4-1 at Corinthian Casuals where I threw my shirt away for a whole five minutes. If the players are committed and I think the vast majority are - we should get behind them. At the moment we lack confidence and a bit of quality but we have players out there (Parky, Daly, Hodges, Ballard, Carbon, Woody and Wilko to name just seven) who are desperate to win.

I am not now going to throw it all in just because we are having a bad spell which COULD culminate in a totally crap season. We could turn the corner come November and December....

Thanks for that Gary - by the way, nice work in mocking the support of Windsor and Eton by including the bit about them fielding a supporters side again AFC Wimbledon, in the 'on the forum' section

Yes, I chuckled when I saw my comment in there! I'll be expecting the royalties cheque, Gary C! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

well said martin. despite it all we should stick with it, cos we dont know whats coming next.
if there are fans who are considering abandoning ship then surely they are as bad as the 'uncommited' players?
