What the hell.....

Coffin Ender

Like all clubs, Wealdstone are sure to have many well-behaved supporters. We welcome at least two to our forum, who have taken the trouble to register and make their views known. Saturday's events just show how a few idiots can damage the reputation of a club.

Thanks for the link Blackdouglas; posts on that forum by Stones fans show there is little support for the troublemakers. Surely it wouldn't be beyond the club to identify the culprits and permanently exclude them.

If those that cause the trouble and those seem to be known to some in Wealdstone then why are they not barred from going to the ground. That way it wont look bad on everyone else surely. Its those few that give bad marks all round.

I did not see what happened but by what I heard from Stones fans and stewards, whilst trying to watch a football match.

A Stones fan urinated at the back of an open stand.

Was dealt with by Stewards, who ejected him and one other, three others decide to leave as well.

This I saw.

Halfway through the first half about 10 Stewards congregated around the corner flag at the Coffin end by the changing rooms. Whilst walking up and down, being officious, they were vocally criticised by a handful of Stones fans for there handling of matters.

During the first half 5 Margate fans were standing amongst Stones fans, even though they were vocal no troble occured. Ten minutes before half time they moved up the other end, and during the second half stood behind the goal Stones attacked, why is up to them. I question the stewarding if this was such a volatile time.

The police did arrive and a personal anouncement(over the tannoy) was made for the Stones fan that had been taking photographs to go to the main gate, as he had paid to watch the game thats what he choose to do.

Later during the second half, (over the tannoy)a request that the Wealdstone chairman, go to the PA annoucers booth. This was met by a section of Stones fans mocking our chairman for not having a tie on.

I stood behind the goal, amongst Wealdstone and Margate fans and other than the odd comments about the stewards being over officious and jobsworths, by fans from both sides, the only abusive comment that could have caused a problem, came from a Steward. Who did apologise to a female Stones fan for his language, which was directed at a Stones fan.

Yes, there were comments directed at the ref, deservedly so because he had a major influence on the result and had previously made similar decisions against Wealdstone, costing them games.

The bar was closed at the request of the Police and the head steward (Meatloaf). Yet people on the balcony were clearly allowed to watch the game whilst drinking? Is that not double standards of some kind.

Meatloaf has asked for photos of what happened, and the Stones fan that they wanted help from was going to be refused entry with his camera, beacuse it was a possible weapon.

So I ask you would you allow these people to control what happens where your children go?

They inflame situations they should be diffusing and are to full of their own importance to ensure public safety.

An incident that could and should of been dealt with causing the minimum of fuss, has escalated in embarresment for both Margate and Wealdstone, causing the taxpayer the cost of some 10-15 police officers being called to a game where a minor offence to public decency occured.

Spoiling the watching of a football match for the majority.

Mr Meatloaf stick to security work at Mothercare if you are not able to assess a situation and act accordingly, that was your task and you failed miserably.

Does "looking for trouble" normally mean "having a pee behind the stand?

I have no knowledge that any of the WFC travelling support came to Margate looking for trouble. In fact, let's be realistic, no one at this level of football follows their team away from home for any reason other than that (a) they want to watch their team play football or (B) they want a good day out.

It's never sensible to use a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

I imagine all Margate supporters with an ounce of intelligence will understand what I mean by that remark.

I'll end by posing a question. How could this unpleasantness have been avoided? Answer 1 is that the Wealdstone bloke should not have had a piss in the open in the first place. There is an answer 2 though - see if anyone can work it out.

I cannot comment on this situation as I wasnt at the incident itself though I saw & heard what was going on.If this drunk had been refused entry into the ground in the first place(being under the influence) then all this wouldnt have occurred i.m.o.Thats the only answer I can see for avoiding what happened.

this is mrs meatloaf cookie......when they arrived at the ground they tried to get in without paying at the main gate by saying that they were players for the oppossing team , i did have the head steward with me at the time, he went away to get someone who could verifiy thier story but they decided to go to the turnstiles before the head steward came back, they didnt seem to drunk to me so i directed them to the turnstiles. They also couldnt have seemed drunk to the other stewards or the turnstile staff, if they have of they would not have been allowed into the ground.

Understood Ri but having heard that this guy WAS drunk at the time of the incident then that was the time to call the police to evict this one personn for being such at the time. But who makes the decision that someone is drunk?

In all these years that I have attended I have never known any problems of this sort arising before, not to this extent, therefore something somewhere is wrong and it needs addressing before it all gets out of hand if it hasnt done so already.

I am inclined to agree that maybe some things are being looked at in a more serious light than what they actually are. There are no accusations directed to anyone here just a concern that there is no common sense being applied at times despite the regulations.

shall we clear this up...

about 5 or 6 of your fans tried to climb over the fence to get in fo free

they were all pissed up and 1 had a piss up the wall and the stewards asked them to stop, at which point they became very abusive i quote 'C U Next Tuesday', and started pushing a few of the stewards and they were escorted out swearing at the stewards.

Whilst this was happening me and butler were walking down towards the coffin end... then their supporters said to us

'Margate boys getting involved now are ya'. Then they gave verbal abuse to a couple of more our fans and offerd them out, outside the ground.

When they were standing outside they gave lots of abuse the rest of our fans still inside the ground and 'offerd them out'. loads of margate fans then ran to the exit gates to make sure nothing kicked off - which it didnt. Thank god.

Anyway as for the police after the game, how stupid. Bet you thought you was really cool didnt you making us walk round you - Manners...
