The only problem with 4-4-2 is that we only have one natural left sided player, Woodruffe. Lovegrove is a sweeper, Paget is a centre back, Mason can play there, although you'd take away his passing ability (Saturday aside) through the middle. If were were to go back to that, I think I'd prefer Woodruffe left wing with a defender behind him. (Barrowcliff, five years younger, would have been ideal!!)

True Kev, but given how poorly we played on Saturday and how much pressure we had you under in the second half, whilst you're a well drilled side with a strong back line, you, very much like us, have a long way to go....

Not sure about the 'long way' for either team... we've only once this season had the same line-up for successive games, on Sat and again last night
v. Staines, and only just located the back of the net!! Aim for our season is to be sited back in Chelmsford (which should be in early Jan, so look forward to your visit in Feb) and be in a safe position in this league come end April. Next season we will see a different approach.

Best of luck for the season ahead - I'm confident you'll get through it okay.

i think thats been our problem all season, we can put together some pretty decent build up play, mostly by flicking the ball out to josias, and we can get into positions to score, but we are unable to complete the job.
i think another thing we need to do is attack the keeper more, many times have we seen corners and crosses fly into the arms of the keeper because we position hodgy in the same place everytime, and the other players are too far away to do anything even if he does get a flick.
we need to bash the keeper around a bit and knock his confidence, even if we give away a few free kicks in the process, if we can do that then they may be more reluctant to come out and catch, allowing one of the rebels to get a head on it.
also we need to stop wasting players on a ballard long throw, 2 players tend to be wasted as the ball flies over their heads towards the flick on of hodgey.

why dont we go back to good old 4-4-2 ?

As Gary says we only have one left sided player but you also have to consider that we have no natural full back on either side. Both JC and Woody are attack minded which is why they are suited to the wing back role. To go 4-4-2 we would need to find two full backs.

I think a Carbon & Harris combo would work well down the right as Harris does tend to work hard when we don't have the ball and could tuck in when Josi overlaps. The left side just hasn't got the personnel IMO for a 4-4-2 at present.

Still, let's hope we can play a bit better than Saturday and grind out a confidence boosting result tonight.
