Having not seen the match, but does this performance not show how key players such as Metcalfe and Harris are so important to our team and with them out for a long period of time, maybe things wont improve.

I have long said while Metcalfe is out, that Ballard should be moved forward but why not fill the gap with Lovegrove or Paget? This has got to be a more practical solution that playing Hodgie at the back.

I would also say its harsh to get on Eddies back simply because we have had a bad run of form - look at what has been achieved over the last couple of seasons, some people are so short sighted in this respect!

As a neutral at todays game I noted a total lack of confidence in the Slough side, especially in the first half. Chelmsford could have been 2 or 3 goals up by half time. Second half was a slight improvement but far too many high balls up front where the Chelmsford no 5 had a field day! Things need to change if you're not going to slide into the relegation zone I'm afraid.

Agree totally with Chelmsford fans, they appear to be a good team who play for each other, personally from what i seen today very suprised where they are in the league, but results dont lie.We at Slough should take a leaf out of their book.Do not agree with the comments on Mets,he gives the ball away just as much as Avery, both players need to learn to like the ball rather than being scared of it.As for Eddie he does deserve credit for what he has acheived but now is the time when his mettle is going to be tested.Yesterday he appeared very frustrated at what was happenening on the pitch but it is for him to bring the team forward,We need firstly a good team spirit on the pitch, this appears to be lacking at the moment. Also real fans support the team regardless of their performances. This is going to be a long hard season and we need to fight for this club.

I have tried to have a more realistic attitude this season knowing that the budget has been cut. The players we have lost have been replaced by players of inferiror quality (who cost less) and results have suffered. But yesterday's performance was desperately poor. Passing, shooting and crossing was woeful. Tactically all over the place. Hodges left at the back until injury time when he was sent forward whilst we were defending a corner. Madness.

I also think as fans we are not doing a great job of supporting the team. We tend to turn up and wait for the players to do something rather than getting behind them. I am as guilty as the next guy though. Admitedly yesterday I was not 100% (boo hoo).

I think we should however back the team and in particular the manager. Eddie lead us to great highs last season and to appreciate those you do have to have the lows. Hopefully he will turn it around before it gets much worse.

It's not just recently it's been like this, I think it's almost a Slough supporter tradition.

Today was an embarassment, i dont think there are many teams who could let a very poor Chelmsford team walk away from THEIR ground with 3 points. As someone who plays for a pretty decent sunday league team i was rather pissed off when someone compared Slough to a sunday league team- I honestly think my team would have won quite easily against Chelmsford today.

Very, very sour grapes that, old son!!! Thought better of a Slough supporter. We have had an absolute crap start to our season and only picked up a bit over the past couple of weeks. But, if you'd like a bet, I'd put up a ton up against your so-called Sunday team any old day - so, come on, money where your mouth is ???

Yes, fair point on the sour grapes! But i think anyone watching will agree that the team that played less poorly won- (by the way my lot won 9-0 yesterday)

Having just had to force myself to sit through the match again, two things stuck out to me.

1 - Just how bad that pitch is. The amount of bobbles on the ball all over the park won't suit any side that tries to get the ball down and play on the deck.

2 - Can't quite understand what Avery did to get the stick toward the end of the second half. Having been able to rewatch, he was probably our best centre back of the three on the day.

Shot count for the match:

Slough

On Target: 0

Off Target: 5

Chelmsford

On Target: 5

Off Target: 9

To be honest, the only thing we truly lacked was that final pass. Every free kick and cross went straight to their keeper, or we got crowded out in the middle of the field. Whilst it's very disappointing to lose and have no shots on target, there are a few positives we can take from it, and hopefully move onwards and upwards.

Well that was the first game I've managed to get to all season, and I actually enjoyed myself, admittedly I was dissapointed that we couldn't string a pass together and had no final ball. But it had been too long since I watched some proper football, so I'll definitely be back when I can. Although I don't know if I'll be allowed as I may well be a bad omen <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

Another point, don't know if its been answered but why did we only have 4 subs, is that all we could muster?
