The matchday programme

AFF

Recommended Posts

I decided to give the matchday programme one last chance on Saturday, and, totally unrelated to the comments on this board over the past few weeks no doubt, there are signs of change and, indeed, the beginnings of improvement.

By remarkable coincidence, there is a banner on the front 'Ryman League Programme of the Season 01/02' or some such. That will show those lying buzzards from Bedford. New front cover. Team photograph and a quiz.

['Q3. Name the 19 England internationals who have been capped while playing for foreign clubs' was an interesting teaser, enjoyed by the early birds and the Chelmsford Chairman and Board in a joint attempt to master the thing in the clubhouse before the game. Oh, by the way. Gary Neville is the third England player who has been capped over 50 times and never scored a goal.]

I spoke to that chap who gets £50,000 a year for collecting the team-sheet from The Duo and handing it to the refereee one hour before k.o. and he said that none of the changes were down to him.

Well done to the mystery matchday programme man, then, whoever he is.

There's a long way to go, but it's a start. Some of the ideas from this board over the past few weeks include: Commercial page, Player profiles, Player interview, Terrace talk, Match reports, Archive stuff. Don't forget, there are willing hands on this board, I'm sure. If help is needed, ask for it.

The first player interview will be Saturday (Miguel de Souza).

What I would like to do, once in a while, is speak to other than players - club officials, people who have been associated with the club in the past, perhaps even others from the wider world of sport with some connection with non-league football. Within reason, if anyone has any thoughts, I'd be happy to see what I can do.

The things I do for this club.
