Loan player

It is reported on the Watford official site that 20 year old striker, Simon Patterson is on loan to Slough for one month.

I saw him in a couple of Watford's pre-season friendlies and he's quite good. He's 6'4", although looks taller, and plays well as a target man when alongside someone smaller and quicker. Good foil for Sammy or Tony Boot.

It appears though he's only played as substitute in one reserve game this season so is possibly still recovering from injury.

Had heard something about a loan player from Watford on Saturday but wasn't told who.

We've also signed a midfielder (rumour did the rounds on Saturday so it won't be a surprise as to who it is) and are lining up a central defender from Chelmsford on loan.

Hoping to get an official line from the club tomorrow. Had hoped to phone through to Roy for the story today, but was far too busy at work unfortunately. Will try and find some time tomorrow and get a story on the site.

Yes it seems we have signed Simon Patterson on loan for a month from Watford. Looks a useful signing and is highly rated. Be interesting to see if he starts tomorrow after Saturday.

Found this quote on a Watford site about him:

[color:"red"]Three-one. Finally we do get to see the heralded Simon Patterson, and both the reason for and the irony in the earlier error become apparent. Patterson is wearing the same shirt number as Foley, an unusual feature shared also by Cook and Swonnell, but there the similarity ends. Patterson is a giant of a man, with the build and gait of a basketball player rather than a footballer. Perhaps losing themselves for a moment, St.Albans begin to adopt basketball regulations by occasionally reintroducing previously extracted players for the remainder of the game.

And Patterson, it is immediately evident, is enormous fun. For one thing, challenges seem to bounce off him in a way that will remind people of Devon White's notorious Watford career. Unlike White, Patterson has control, grace and wit. With his long lanky frame he is able to stretch and cover half the penalty area without moving his upper torso. A succession of sways and feints fool three defenders on the edge of the box, winning an improbable corner (and the crowd).

Yes, he looked good that day and caused their defenders a few problems. I don't think he's a twenty goal a season player but causes enough mayhem around him to allow others to capitalise, in this case hopefully Sammy or Tony... Hope he plays tomorrow and doesn't let me down!
