Just got back, thought it was a useful and thought provoking meeting. Brian, Frank and Liam really do seem a solid team.

If any doubts existed before they don't now having heard Liam speak.

He really IS the man for the job. You could hear in his voice how gutted he was obout the Tamworth performance.

Liam speaks a lot more eloquently "live" than he does on the radio. Perhaps he is just microphone shy, but I thought he answered some tough questions honestly and openly.

I came away feeling very upbeat and positive about the future.

We will have a few setbacks on the way, but I can seen a time in the not too distant future when we are playing great football at a great stadium in front of 2000 fans every home game.

Ps what a great facility Fleet Leisure is!

Does any non-league club have anything better than that as a combined training, sports, leisure and corporate hospitality venue?

And the lager is under £2 a pint!! Top stuff!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif" alt="" />

Reckon about 40. Probably less than expected because of the late change of venue and the Trust meeting on Thursday. Having both forum 2 days apart does seem a little counterproductive, especially as the panel are the same.

Although the fans forum and the trust meeting are entirely separate entities, was there no way the 2 meetings could have been combined?

Can't wait for the kicking, punching and biting to start to get those disenchanted premiership types down to Stonebridge Road...

But in all seriousness it was a positive meeting, and one that you did come away from thinking that we are moving in the right direction.

Just need to convince everybody else now.

Up the Fleet ... Lets get those turnstiles clicking

Now call me cynical but do the News Shopper have something against us? They cover Charlton more than us and they put a Charlton Coach advert all over the front and back page the other week. Sometimes when we win they don't mention it and sometimes when we lose they make sure they mention it. (although to be fair, they've done the reverse aswell)

Stu,

I take it this is the article you're referring to which appeared on the 'This is Local London' website.

Quote

THE top brass at Gravesend and Northfleet FC have been gathering to discuss falling attendances at Stonebridge Road.

In a statement chairman Brian Kilcullen announced the club will be bringing out new initiatives to increase numbers very soon.

As a reporter who pays regular visits to Stonebridge Road I can suggest a new initiative straight away teach stewards, food staff, office staff and turnstile attendants some common courtesy.

This season I have visited Fleet, Charlton Athletic, Millwall, Crystal Palace, Cray Wanderers, Welling and Dartford and by a country mile the welcome at Fleet is the least pleasant and, had I any choice, I would not return.

The turnstile staff do anything they can to prevent my entry, despite clearance having been approved beforehand.

It is the only club I know where media representatives have to buy a match programme and while I would readily accept the charge the rude, unprofessional and condescending manner in which I was told is simply not called for.

The food staff need to realise the people they serve are the fans and if the fans are made to feel unwelcome as I was by the woman who bellowed in my face when I had the nerve to ask for a napkin they will not return.

All these factors make watching Fleet an exciting and excellent team at Stonebridge Road an unpleasant experience and maybe this is why the attendances have dropped.

Top brass, try taking a leaf out of Dartford's book as they are among the most accommodating and gracious people I have ever had the pleasure to meet.

You may be a Nationwide Conference side but you are still a community team. Treat fans better or they may continue to stay away.

Whether we or the Club agree with the contributors comments or not it would be wrong of anyone to disregard them out of hand. You only have to read some of the comments on other threds on this forum and others to realise that some of us at some stage have experienced an element of frustration at the turnstiles or with the new food bar arrangements etc.

Those of us who are regular supporters may tend to 'gloss over' such things but at a time when management is actively looking to raise attendances by attracting new support this type of press is unwelcome wherever it comes from.

The Trust AGM was booked months ago, the forum appeared in the last 10 days so not much could be done.

I agree though, it seems pointless dragging essentially the same people out 2 nights in a row.

The Trust AGM takes all of 25 minutes usually, the Forum could have followed it.

We actually need to get ALL local press on-side, not just the Distorter.

A reporter from the Gravesham Messenger? was at Tuesday's forum, obviously not a fan, just doing a reporting job, and didn't know Brian, Roly, Macca and Liam from Adam. He did seem impressed with the Beauwaters facility, though.

We need to encourage the press, not obstruct them. If we are all doing our bit to spread the gospel and increase gates, sure as hell local press can do the same but 50 times more effectively.

Two forums in 1 week were too much for me, and having to miss tonights. But good luck to the Trust.

But they also did not know him from Adam did they ?

He seemed to sneak off at the half time interval without a bye or leave, hopefully they harangued him to write a very positive piece.

Ah.....The News Shopper....unsolicited London drivel ! I only look at Pub Spy, and there's not many of them I know as they are mainly Bromley/Chislehurst/Eltham etc. !!

Still, there is a plus side....I use the paper as a base for my runner beans......so...sh*t replaces sh*t....and so the world goes around !!

Cheers,
