Dover out!

Good.

Short term, the atmosphere and crowd would have been good,(think Gate proceeds are shared) but we never beat dover ,and they are in all honesty probably a better side than us at moment.

By no means would i underestimate Dartford, but we must have a better chance of winning and getting another home draw and some more money

Not massive I'd guess. The attendance tonight was reported as 323. But a Saturday trip to the seasside should bring a few of them out. Any bids for away support of 100?

Comments on the "matchdaylive" sevice seams that Dartford could do very bad things to you by giving you some injury worries. These are qoutes from Jim Parmenter.(well thats who i beleive does the online service)

41:00 - Fouls by Dartford

Outbreak of Saturday's disease

53:00 - It gets worse

Yellow card for Dave Clifford for foul on last forward. Free kick

65:00 - Animals

That's five injuries now for Dover in the two games and none for Dartford. Tyne on for Hamshare.

67:00 - Anthony Hogg

Takes revenge with a terrible tackle on Hafner. Dartford seem determined to ruin our club and finally Dover snap and fight back.

69:00 - Management of Dartford

Aggression spews from their dugout. No wonder the team are like they are.

71:00 - Shane Hamshare

Ligament damage for Hamshare. Deliberate sabotage by Dartford it seems.

73:00 - Feud

These games will be remembered by Dover fans. Just what does the Darts manager say to his team?

89:30 - Dean Readings

Brought down from behind bvy terrible tackl;e. No red just yellow for Jim Carter. 'Well done Jimmy" says a Darts director. Thugs.

It seems that this game could be very bad for your chances in the league if they show you the same attitude they had against Dover.

In fairness to JP, i don't think he does the online sewrvice and would have a bit more discretion than that, although i think the Dover website shows him to make some slightly milder comments albeit in the same vein after their game/war last saturday.

Now that we have trimmed the squad to 16, including those already injured, the last thing we will need is more players out! Lets hope CK will bring some more new faces in before we face the Darts. Their results have been impressive so far this season and this could be just as tough as the Cray game and another potential banana skin. Hope we are better prepared this time. Last league meeting was Doc Martens Premier, I think our championship winning season when we drew 0-0 away and 2-2 at Hartsdown after leading 2-0. Last cup game was an FA Trophy replay defeat on penalties (2-2 AET) when they played at Purfleet.Might have beaten them in the KSC since then though, not too sure.

You are correct, but for us exiles pre-season games and KSC cup don't mean too much.

I was referring to competitive games .

Gets me back to thinking of the sixties when we used to play them over Christmas,we would lose , would spoil my Christmas and then i would have togo back to school in Dover as the only Margate fan at school in Dover .

Not good !!

Listened to mr Walker, theDover manager after saterdays game. They Dover sustained not one but four long term injuries in the game including a broken leg for Braithwaite. He was not a happy man with The oppositions performance and his language had to be oppologised for. I personaly would rather have played Dover,(1)they are less physical(2) we have played them already(3)the crowd would have been good, its not only the Gate takings, which we have to share but the pints and burgers ect, we would sell.Anyway who ever.BRING them ON.

Well we know a thing or two about Steve Hafner, Ian Pulman, Kevin Hudson and Anthony Henry don't we? Physical side apparently. If we have Kola back by then hopefully with Ryan, Donovan, Kola and maybe Billy too they should be well marshalled. I'm confident now with the players coming back in such as JK as we will have plenty of bite about us as well despite facing an apparently physical team. They won't be able to kick us off the park if that was their instruction against Dover.

Hafner quoted as saying "I'm really looking forward to showing them what they're missing."

Report from Kent Online:

Directors in slanging match as Darts go through

by Tony Hudd

Dartford 3 - 2 Dover Athletic

EXTRAORDINARY scenes accompanied Dartford's 3-2 defeat of old rivals Dover in Tuesday's FA Trophy, first qualifying round replay at Stonebridge Road as both sets of directors hurled abuse at each other.

Throughout there had been an unpleasant undercurrent running through the sequel to Saturday's first, fiesty encounter at Crabble, where the home side lost Craig Cloke with a broken leg.

Tuesday's sequel erupted on and off the field in the 65th minute following a challenge by Dartford match-winner Steve Hafner on Dover defender Shane Hamshare who was carried off on a stretcher with suspected ligament damage in his left knee.

Both sets of players were involved in a free-for-all in front of the two directors' boxes. Off the field, opposing directors traded insults which ended with Dover declining after-match hospitality and leaving at the final whistle.

Six players were cautioned - three from either side - while Croydon referee Rob Smith had his work cut out keeping order as tempers simmered fractionally below boiling point.

Dartford manager Tony Burman, who endured the frustration of seeing the series of incidents overshadow his team's considerable feat of eclipsing Dover, confessed: "The tie did get close to getting out of control but what disappointed me most was the behaviour of certain individuals off the field.

"It was unfortunate that Dover suffered injuries on Saturday and another tonight but none of my players went out there with any malicious intent."

All Dover manager Clive Walker would say was: "We wanted a cup run and everyone at the club is disappointed to have lost tonight."

Dover, desperate to win the replay and set up a money-spinning East Kent derby with arch-rivals Margate at Hartsdown Park on November 12, twice held the lead through goals from Anthony Hogg and Michael Smissen.

Dave Martin scored Darts' first equaliser before Hafner scored twice either side of half time, his second a spectacular 30 yard drive.

I think we need to keep this one calm, but as you say, i would not like to meet JK ,Kola ,Ryan ,Donovan and even CM in a dark alleyway !!

Has Pulman been eating shredded wheat. He was hardly the most physically daunting player

Very noble of Dover to say that 'if thats the way football is played ,then let dartford have the game'.

Personally, to me, its the managers job to work out tactics to defeat the other teams tactics.

Matching brute force with brute force is not necessarily the answer.

Maybe dainty football can outwit and outshine a physical team.

Personally, at this level i am an advocate of 'the physiacal game'-nothing illegal about bullying a team out of the game.If it works-do it.

What i would not want is to see two teams kicking hell out of each other.
