Local Talent!!!

This is one reason why i suggested in a past posting that a few practice games would benefit not only those sitting on the bench, the ones returning fom injury,a few of the more promising u18's and of course anyone who thinks they are good enough to put on a Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate shirt. If local talent could see a way through it would make the Gaaaaaaate more of a community club. I agree that in march we were near the end,if it had not been for the hard work of people such as KP,Vicky, Colinand last but not least Mr Lever, we would not be here posting on this forum. But now we are in a different period, the club is moving forward, the new development is only just around the corner,we have a new board,in a few weeks a new chairman,(no to another parmenter)the club are looking to make there 1st appointment,a sports coordinator to work in the community and operate the 5 a side development, the new future is here,March is in the past, the GAAAAAAAAATE are moving ONWARDS and UPWARDS.The future is HERE the FUTURE is MAAAAAAARGATE. This was a party politicle broadcast on behalf of the get MARGATE into the premiership party.

I am the manager of the U/11s margate Youth Side ( Who are having a great season so far!!) and it would be great to see some of this team in years to come play for the first team, it would certainly make me very proud. I am hoping that next season the youth teams will be able to train at the ground and gain some valuable experience from some of Margates trainers and coaches. This would make Margate more of a community Football side and see more and more homegrown talent coming through the ranks to play for the first team!

As a ex-manager of a thanet works side for the last seven seasons, I have seen plenty of talented players on a sunday morning/afternoon.I think a reserve side would be a great way of producing a few local lads for the first team.Ramsgate have got a host of these and their only one league below.Maybe there should be more scouting locally,KR should go to the cup finals.Jimmy Ward approached one of my players two seasons ago at a cup final,if he does it why don't we?

Be really good to see a reserve team up and running as soon as possible. Even if they just played some friendlies this season.

And i think it would be good to get a sunday league 1x to play a friendly pre season would be a good way of generating interest and could help to find some new players.

Aren't we a bigger club than Ramsgate, surely CK has his own ways of bringing in players, we have at least been in the conference, unlike Ramsgate.

Although Personally I would like to see at least one local lad in the team

You take me back saying this. The club used to do this.I can remember playing there with Thanet Colts as they were then, players included Norman Fusco.Oh great memories!

Cor, blimey, Tony, there's blast from the past. Norman (bites your legs) Fusco was a legend here as well. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

In response to Blueboyblue, I think the club should look into the possibility of staging some of the local league cup finals or maybe schools games at Hartsdown at the end of each season. Not only would this fit in with us being part of the community, but we would make money via the clubhouse.

I think that is an excellent idea!
Also think we should have a reserve side playing local teams in friendlies ASAP
