Grounds these days & Hello all

Hi all,

Been a lurker for a good year now, but i've been following the fleet for over 20 years! Finally got internet up and running at home and i'm looking forward to partaking in some interesting conversations and gossip!

My 1st post may be seen as somewhat controversial, but I assure you it's not meant to be, I'm just expressing my view, so please don't delete, just interested to see other people views on this.

Now picture the scene, your working hard all week, only to come home to an often nagging wife and rowdy kids(i'm sure some of you can relate to this!), saturday comes and you look forward to your one escape...0-0,last minute, jacksons' through on goal, and you hear a shrill..."stick in between the posts, ooh ooh, go on score a point, woo woo. Meat pie sausage role come on gravesend score a goal"... Women women women. In my personal opinion(nothing against women), I don't like them at the football. It's a mans game, go to the netball or hockey....

Just wanted to see what everyone else thought, any like minded souls out there or am I a total pig?!

Afternoon Old School and welcome to the forum.

I know what you mean.

Last season, there was sometimes a woman who stood near me in the Plough End who would really shriek everytime Fleet were on the attack.

I was thinking about ear plugs at one stage! Haven't seen her this season but that may be due to the renovation work on that terrace.

Also, there is the now famous screaming woman of Highbury who is really annoying when watching games on the tele. She's off everytime the opposition get into their box, let alone have a bonafide chance.

Bad luck if you had your seat for the season next to her!

That said though, there are lots of women who are extremely knowledgeable about the game.

As a bloke, I see your point mate but it will be interesting to see what others make of it.

As for attending games, men, women, children, goats - we'll take anyone and everyone to up the attendance!

The women who wind me up at football are the moaning old gits who stand near me, they dress like men but moan like old women...I wouldn't mind so much if they where moaning about the opposition or the ref but they spent the entire Kiddie match complaining that they hadn't been allowed to stay in the bar after the match kicked off.

Other than that anyone who is prepared to turn up and cheer the Fleet, women, children, Harry and/or Mikefleet, is alright by me.

Call me sad, but a sudden influx of attractive female types at Stonebridge Road would be most welcome, and if they understand the offside rule all the better (which would make them better than most Conference linesmen)

£12 to sit in a bar - maybe the new admission prices aren't so prohibitive after all.

Cheerleaders maybe like those sorts at Dagenham?

Ask yourself two questions:

1) How old are they?

2) How old are you?
