BBC Essex

Again this week we have a situation where we are getting occassional comments on Grays V Scarborough, Morcambe V Daggers, York v Canvey and Colchester V Bournmouth.

We do have live commentary on that famous Essex team West Ham.

I have the names of over 150 people who agree this is a disgrace and I am therefore going to suggest the following action to those people.

(1) We write formally to the DG.

(2) We write to the PM objecting to local radio stations large budgets.

(3) We ask that our local MP's request a refund on license fee as Essex licenses are subsidising east London coverage.

(4) We will ask under the Freedom of Information Act for a copy of the minutes of meetings where the decision was made to allow one BBC local radio station to target another areas audience. BBC Essex is competing with BBC London.

(5)I intend to contact other radio stations informing them of the situation.

I will be posting this message on all Essex teams websites aking supporters to tune into alternative stations.

We want BBC ESSEX for ESSEX not West Ham.

As an aside, MOB, Meridian TV give us almost no coverage, claiming Gravesham is in the London (Carlton?) area. Oddly, Carlton say the opposite, that we are in the Meridian area. As gravesend is in a no man's land between networked areas, we will never get any publicity.

Until we get a BIG match like Aston Villa, then watch all the hangers on and sycophants swarm around.

Nauseating, really.

And why DO Woking get so much Sky coverage. Is their chaiman on Sky's payroll?

At least we have good old BBC Radio Kent, who almost never let us down, good home coverage, and live internet commentary of the highest and most biased order for all away games.

BBC Kent tend to concentrate on the Gills on the radio and us on the internet which is fair enough.

Despite the occasional confusion over where Charlton are located they do pretty much stick to Kent sides.

I can understand why MOB would be upset at Radio Essex if they are touting West Ham as an Essex team however West Ham probably have more supporters in Essex than any other team.

If Radio essex was to concentrate on sides based in Essex though I am afraid the position for the non-league fan would be no different, Southend and Colchester might get more coverage but Daggers, Canvey and Grays would still only be 'updates' as they currently are.
