Average age of the team

I reckon MFC could send out the following team which would beat most of clubs in Ryman Premier:

Mitten,

Brown, Kola, Donovan,Ryan ,Standen.

Gradley, Deen, McGowan.

Remy, Amoako.

Excepting Charlie M, i think average age there is about 21 which augers well for future.

I think CK needs a bit of praise for assembling a decent but young squad.

I think it will be a step too far for that squad to get to play-offs after our usual poorish start, but if for once they can be kept together over the summer in advance of next season we really could have a team to be proud of ,also playing good football; as there are signs of good ball playing footballers in that youthful squad.

Also maybe enough quality there for MFC to benefit from a decent transfer fee from a league club for 2 or 3 of them.

Not too sure how these things work, and what constraints mfc is under from Bank,Administrators and the Joint venture company, but in theory at least, if i was in charge, i'd be looking to take a bit of a risk and get a few on two year contracts. We can't keep 'rebuilding' every summer.

I think if fans knew that the bulk of squad was there for the long term, they would really get behind such a young squad ,even on bad days and accept an average league placing this season in favour of a real chance the season after from players who really know each others game.

Is'nt that the way Barnet won the conference last season?

Of course, add to that lot our current experienced hands of JK, Edwards, Oates ,Leon,Sacha (who i think may be positively ancient at 25)and the squad is pretty good.

Changing the subject for a second but still to do with the players I see the squad details on the main page are still showing 6 players that are now not with us. Hope the club update the squad on there. It must seem a difficult job to keep up with things but it would be good to see details updated nevertheless.

I agree with you.It is still only the middle of October.I along with the others i meet with at matches have always said we would'nt start to see a regular group until the end of the month.Looking at the quality of the current squad CK is ahead of our schedule.Personaly i would wait until around Xmas before i started saying the team would not make the play offs.If memory serves me right last season after a dismal start we were not far off a play off position in the new year and before the final run in.This season the clubs are very simular,as they were in the conference south last season(with the exception of Grays)Unlike last year when our main battle was club survival, Ck is building a team with a future. i do not think for one moment he has finnished signing or moving players on. January, when the transfer window opens we will see more players moving, some moving up to higher clubs and those they replace moving down and into our leagues. The future looks bright the future is MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGATE.

Imo the ones we have are pretty good.

Its frustrating to keep on using the words'have not gelled' yet.

It must be equally frustrating to CK as also arguably our two best players-Kola and Gradley have been sidelined for some time

How long will it take to gell .

That is not a criticism, purely frustration as again i think the squad is excellent and better than last year and no-one is expecting miracles particularly given the tender average age of most of the players, as the thread started off.

Frankly i do not expect to reach the playoffs, but do want some comfort knowing that we are genuinely building for the future, may even reap the odd transfer fee if a player really comes good, and is thus not allowed to beetle off like Green could, and that next summer , CK will not have to start rebuilding all over again
