Seems to be unrest at Stevenage, surely not? With all those egos it should be the steadiest ship in the league.

Graham Westley chose Friday morning to give a brief synopsis of the season so far.

 

"11 played; 18 points. 8th. Level with Hereford. 7 points behind the early leaders after a very tough month. Ahead of where we were at this time last year. Tables take shape after 10 games. And after 21 they start to have some meaning.

 

Like Morecambe and Accrington, we have lost just 3 games. But our away form needs to improve and we must continue to work hard to improve our possession play and our set pieces if we are to get the best out of ourselves.

 

The vital thing is that we have already been shot at and I believe that is important. When we beat Exeter, the knives were out. I was misquoted as "bragging" that we were "the best". We were portrayed as getting carried away. Nonsense. And we will get this type of stuff.

 

Because we are the team that everybody wants to try to beat.

 

This week there was rubbish about me walking out to move into a Football League job when my contract already runs until next summer. People want to disrupt us and divide us and they will try to.

 

We must talk on the pitch, and we must stay together. Don't allow any division to creep in. Don't start believing nonsense. Concentrate on the job in hand. With good work on the training ground, then we will progress".

 

There are times when you need to break the swear ban on here.

Well, if you listen to Westley's interview on Boroguide it's either:

a) Left as part of a shake-up, or

Resigned because of travelling and can't hack not being number 1.

Or presumably any point in between the two extremes.

It didn't say much anyway. Just that after being a no. 1 for 7 1/2 years , Andy found it difficult to be the no.2. Maybe it was code for found it difficult to be Westleys no.2.

Maybe he has something lined up.

 

 

More worryingly yesterdays game was given 2 stars for entertainment. Wouldn't like to see a 1 star one !!
