Brief match report

Whilst i guess i was as responsible as anyone for saying that standen was impressive as a defensive wing back, i don't think we should get carried away as i'm sure the Manager and player have their own views.

For example ,in our times of crisis last season, for the life of me, i could never work out why Clarke did not play at left back.It may have weakened midfield but would have at least stop us leaking goals

Whilst to me it seemed that Standen at left wingback seemed to work well on the day(and free up a midfield space),the opposition was not the sharpest in the world, and i think it needs a bit more of a test;before everyone and in particular manager and player think the problem is solved.

Hope CK does give it another go though.

Reason for the short match report was because it was substantially cut by the NLP - did go into a bit more detail when I sent it - honest! A better & more full length report can be found at www.bashleyfc.co.uk.

Thought your supporters were a good bunch yesterday, obviously you thoroughly deserved the win on the pitch (didn't do ourselves any favours either by playing for 88 minutes with ten men!) After the first 20 minutes you were totally in control and were comfortably the best side we've played this season.

Good luck in the next round, and glad to see you're back at Margate after your spell in exile.

I can assure any doubters that the crowd genuinely was 95 - I wish it had been 150 - as has been mentioned earlier on the thread, we are going through a bad time at the moment and have just parted company with our manager and player/coach.

We could also do without accusations of "blatant gate fiddling" which are totally untrue - we've got enough problems of our own to sort out at the moment. I have no idea how teabarmark managed to count 150 in the ground because there were nowhere near that many even including club officials etc.

Cheers for generating a bit of atmosphere yesterday, and maybe one day we'll play you again in a cup competition (still remember our trip to Margate in the Trophy a few years back when we won 2-1 and your keeper scoring against us in a league cup semi final!)
