lovely stuff

Recommended Posts

Excellent, well done lads, well done to Jim too.

Good to see a new striker score, and also to see BH trouble the scorers. A new dawn, perhaps?

Cheers for the post LS, I was beginning to think you lot would never come out of the bar...

Err, how was the PA announcing today? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Hall, Campbell, Penn, Gant, Hall, Woodward, Velandia, Hall, Paul, Hammatt, Morgan, Ritchie, Brotherton, Smith, Nyman, Baldwin.

Gate only 212

Within the first minute Bryan Hammatt has a near post shot. Berkhamsted started positively and for the next 20 minutes dominated hitting the near post having beaten Chopper. Berkhamsted’s long thrower was causing all sorts of problems. A Paul Campbell error led to Berkhamsted having a one on one with Chopper and Chopper saved. The Chopper being so confident Berkhamsted wouldn’t score gave them an open goal to shoot at and the ball hit the underside of the bar and bounced out. The first real chance for Town came from an inspired perfectly weighted pass from Paul Campbell to Trevor Paul who flicked it pass the keeper with some style. 1- 0 on 20 minutes against the run of play. This lad is class. Town started to gradually get more into the game after the first goal Kieron Woodward was making lovely runs down the left wing. Chopper made another great save. Berkhamsted had a headed goal disallowed for a rather violent shove in the back of Adam Gant. Chopper saved again. Johnny Morgan fell in the box after a lovely run, nothing given. Graeme Hall got to the by-line and tried to lob the defender who put his hand up. Penalty. On 44 minutes Rudi Hall took the penalty and scored. 2- 0. If you’d have said we’d be leading 2 – 0 at the end of the half I’d have eaten my hat. That is football.

Chopper continued to save and the defenders defended. Trevor Paul off and Dean Nyman. Dean Nyman immediately in on the action just shooting wide. Kieron Woodward tackling back well. Town had a goal mouth scramble in the Berkhamsted goal where the ball was knocked off the Berkhamsted line. Johnny Morgan off and Niall Ritchie on. Another good save from Chopper. Niall Ritchie shoots just wide. Chopper in as one on one with striker and saves brilliantly. Steve Velandia was brilliant second half Rudi style run to the by line and hook back for Bryan Hammatt to nail in the roof of the net 3 – 0. Paul Campbell off and Bradley Brotherton on. Niall Ritchie was causing all sorts of problems in the Berkhamsted goal area. Bryan Hammatt was brought down in the box when running at goal. Surely it must be a penalty – no-op. Rudi thought so and was booked for arguing with the ref. Russell Penn tackling back then Chopper saved. Dean Nyman had a shot on target saved. 3 – 0 belies the true story. Pablo Ardilles of Argentina met Steve Velandia of Columbia and the Columbian won.

Trevor Paul scored a good goal, but had a relatively quiet game overall.Brotherton was unlucky to be dropped.Kojo unlucky not to make the bench.

Valandia did OK.Great run for the last goal.I think he would play better without Rudi in the side though. They are too similar is style and look to take up the same sort of positions when playing together.

Campbell seems to be getting better and better with each game, especially attacking wise.Chopper had a great game in goal as usual.

Nice to see Hammett score.Although his mock-booing to the crowd after he scored, was uncalled for.Especially as it was only his third goal in 14 games. He should have just been gratefull that he was in the starting line-up,and gratefull that he was still on the pitch to be able to score it,and take the genuine congratulations from the crowd with slightly better grace.Saying that, it was probably just a release of frustration from the lad, and i hope this goal spells a rich vein of form for him.

Where's the thanks to Dave F and the rest of the stewards for putting the posts and bars up in the right place before the game? Any slight deviation from our usual expertise of lining up of the posts would have resulted in us being at least two goals behind!

Definition of expertise - Are the posts straight? Does it look OK? Good, let's go and do the other one now.

Bryan has scored 3 goals this season on a par with O.G, 1 in August, zero in September and 2 in October. Certainly the last two hit the roof of the net from about 5 feet so maybe if he is getting more confident we can expect a shot from say 10 feet next Saturday!

Incidentally O.G's performance this month has been poor not scoring once, might have to drop him on this performance.

Trevor Paul looked to still be carrying a back injury at the moment hope an osteopath can fix it for him.

Chopper was superb yesterday with some outstanding saves.
Chopper was busy yesterday & we won 3-0, Where as Ken was for most of the match against Borehamwood a spectator & we lost 2-0.
That's why we love the game so much, certainly didnt think we were 3 goals better than Berkhamstead but also believe that no way were the Wood 2 goals better than us on Tuesday.
Fuuny old game!!
