Tamworth

Recommended Posts

No quality on display by either side today. It came down to who wanted it more, and unfortunately they did.

We didn't deserve anything, don't think we had a shot on target all game.

Its a shame cos our performance only had to be half as good as recent weeks , and we would have come away with something.

Just hope we don't have to witness such a dull game again this season.

PS. Lets hope Bobby bowry comes back soon, we are not the same team without him

Very dull game, hoof hoof all day long. We played the worst I've seen since Grays away this season, and Tamworth were the worst team I've seen this season. Thought things might get better as the game went on but they actually got worse. Tamworth took advantage and had a decent 2nd half.

Definitely missed Bowry. Like someone else said on here a few weeks ago (cant remember who), you dont know how good it is until its gone. Sureys a decent little player but he just aint got that vision and assurance if you know what I mean?

I hope the players only played poor because they had their minds on next week.

We weren't good enough, they weren't much better but then did score and had more than one shot on target.

The continual reliance on aimless long balls over the top to small strikers has to stop, we're getting found out but alas it seems there is no plan B.

Saunders was the only one to come out of the game with any credit - Drury came on but wasn't given the ball and Manny/Sodje/Kim looked fed up watching balls go over their head or arrive a throat height.

If we play like that against Kettering we'll get beat, hopefully Charlie and the highly important Bowry will be back.

All those "experts" who slagged Bob off - now you know why he's the first name on the sheet.

A lamentable performance of gargantuan proportions. No idea whatsoever. Route 1, hoof it back up the pitch as quickly as possible football. The same sort of football we were playing around Christmas last year.

Bobby Bowry was sorely missed, no hold up play in midfield. Without Charlie MacDonald there was no skill or finesse up front. The most boring game so far this season.

Kettering have very little to worry about.

Jay had a header saved right at the end - but that was the only one. Tamworth, while nothing special, at least put on some attacking pressure in the second half, and struck the bar late on when McCarthy was leading the line like against Kidderminster, only encouraging us to launch yet more long balls. As for the first half, the fact that it took both sides 41 minutes between them to have a shot of any kind, let alone one on target, tells its own story. On the plus side, we've only put in two truly poor performances out of fourteen so far this season, which has to be an improvement on recent seasons.

Probably true - Ross and McCarthy weren't too bad though, and Holloway did little wrong except joining in with the long-ball fest.

It seems unlikely - our opponents are Kettering Town, not Manchester United.

But the players didn't seem to have the same attitude yesterday as they've had over the past month or two. Instead of going for every ball I felt were relectant to get stuck in. To me, they seemed like they were all trying to not get injured. Tamworth on the other hand, did get stuck in. And I believe they now have a couple of injuries to show for it.

Watford have scouted him on a number of occasions too, according to Saturday's programme. See, I wasn't lying about Football League clubs being interested!

He's in the latest National Game XI squad too, by the way.
