Keeper?

Has anyone watching the Urchins this season or for the past5 or 6 seasons for that matter, had any problem with Mike Collier? in terms of ability? his form? his dedication? his loyalty to the club? his passion for this club to succeed? Cos i haven't.I know Mike Collier has been injured recently, but i know that his physiotherapist passed him fit for play after an hours fitness test on weds 12th Oct.So why has the club effectively bombed him by signing the Waltham Abbey keeper on the understanding that he only signed if guaranteed to be 1st choice.I know when Mike was last at the club he was disappointed to leave then, although he understood because this was when the club decided to go full time..I am very puzzled.

mickey collier is an urchin legend,if someone has been promised the no1 shirt they have to get past mickey first

if someone is that gullible to believe they will be automatically first choice without anyone else fighting for the position then they haven't met our mickey

i don't suppose you are related to the abovementioned michael collier by any chance

No one should or does have a guaranteed place in the first team. We are the Urchins and are therefore the biggest and best team in this league, where fan pleasing football rules and you earn your right to become an urchin.

Mick stood with the lads on Saturday and is a true Urchin, just as he was the last time. He'll be part of our league and cup winning team this season and will earn his place like everyone else. It's called a squad and we are fortunate enough to have one.

See you all tomorrow for another go at Hullbridge. Let's make sure there's well over a hundred of us there, they need a decent crowd.

if you have signed john then you have added a quality player to your squad. he is the best keeper at this level with out doubt. its sad to see him go as he has been quality for us and we can only wish him the best of luck apart from when we play you of course.

its a credit to wafc that hornchurch have nicked (so to speak) 5 of our quad cup winning team. you could change the name to wafc hornchurch now.

any football club with true aspirations towards winning competitions during any season needs to have at least two keepers if not three. Twice this season we have had no reserve keeper on our bench which is a dangerous game to play.......... (especially as Michael did have to go off a few games ago which proved the point) luckily we had on that day a reserve keeper.

Signing any player at the moment is a plus for us as we have many injuries and a few suspensions coming up in critical positions.....

Current players will perhaps feel threatened by such incoming transfers and thats football I'm afraid. It's the managers job to run our football team and if he wants to sign a new player, any player regardless of position.....and he's within his allocated wage budget.....well thats his decision and sentiment cannot stand in the way...

Michael is a very good keeper and has the jersey...why feel threatened by another signing if there is one.....(and his physio may have said he's fit but ours hasn't and he's the one that counts....supposing Mike hadn't been fit for an important game on saturday...no keeper on the bench again...?

anyway... at the moment there isn't any such signing but there may well be later today. Not done yet chaps so keep calm.

I think the original post was emotional and ill advised.... (as MM said very well...Mike is a true Urchin and will hopefully stay with us and remain one)...half an hour or so after JoLo had told mike that he was trying to sign another keeper...

football is football...it never changes.... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

to be fair Zody your opinion is way out, admittedly neil finn was a quality keeper a few years back, but John Hickman is without doubt the best in the essex senior

WAFC Hornchurch i think you should thank the coaching staff at WAFC for progressing these players?
