Fleet v York

Interesting that, with the referee in such close proximity to that, he wasn't booked.

Football team in 'some of our fans are decent people, others are not' shocker!

Caesar heard to utter 'et tu, Brute?' etc.

As I said on the recent Sodje thread:
"Frightening pace, massive physique and strength beyond his years, "presence", endurance, confidence and an eye for goal.
I have not seen a better 17 year old on Fleets books in 35 years."

Hope Charlton don't decide they want him back

I thought at the time the ref bottled it, and should have given a straight red.
Nothing I have seen on the video changes my belief. The last defender was VERY lucky to stay on.
I have seen far more dubious cases given a red.

I think if Sodje dives its a red, As he didnt maybe the ref had more of a think about it. Either way it should have been a red. But it was a great game and a point before the kick off would have been accepted.

I agree, Rich, but try telling those dour old York fans that it was a cracker - hoots of derision "we were crap, you were crap, your ground's crap. your fans are crap", was what a lot (but not all) said

I think what J.C. meant was that Sodje should have been booked for his celebration directed at the York fans....still if you don't hand out reds for preventing a goal you can't hand out yellows for goading fans.

The saving grace may have been that Onome kept running which meant that the original foul didn't actually prevent a clear goalscoring opportunity and therefore only merited a yellow.

As I said elsewhere more deserving of a red was Bishop for his forearm smash on Skins

I had 12 pints ( if you include the England game )...then went home, had a shower, and had a nice Indian meal, complete with bottles of Cobra,......didn't touch the wife, as she said I stank of curry, Strongbow & Lager !!.....and it all ended happily ever after !

Cheers,

Alan W & I certainly strirred up a bit of "interest" on the York forum last week. It seems about 95% of their supporters thin Ukrainian Phil is a plank too!!
Some good lively after match debate.
Also there seems to be a lot of genuinely decent fans at the club too.

You made a great post on there Gary, well done.
